The first order of business in a Democratic Congress should be this
The House should formally repeal the Clinton impeachment articles that were approved in December, 1998. No hearings, just do it, and move on. It won't take up a lot of time if it is just done.

I continue to remain angry about this episode in our history.

1. While I agree they should be repealed...
...I don't think they should be the first item of business. That looks too self-serving and partisan for a party that wants to show that it's focused on healing the damage that six years of the Junta have done to America. Leave it for a few months and then repeal the articles as a matter of ordinary business. Doing it during the early days of the new Congress may send out the wrong messages.

2. Hey.
That is really a subtle and good idea.

a) it reminds people of the good old days
b) it reminds people of the attack dog GOP that created the basis of Bushism
c) it corrects a mistake, no, a huge mistake from a decade ago
d) it warns the GOP that such destructive attacks will no longer be ignored and that they are accountable.

I salute you!

5. Sorry to Disagrere...
The first order should be to IMMEDIATELY reinstate the Media Fairness Doctrine...we will never have a real country again until the Media HAS to present both sides of an issue again...

6. The Fairness Doctrine is not a real priority for me
Even if Congress and the President passed it, the corporate media would just pout and bring it up to the Supreme Court, and we know what that means. Previous courts have suggested that there are constitutional problems with the Fairness Doctrine.

Furthermore, it could force outlets like Air America to put conservative shows on the air. I like turning on AA knowing that a liberal host will be on the air.

I like the idea of having the Left work on building its own media empire, rather than clinging to old laws from the past.

8. What happens to something like Air America Radio if the Fairness Doctrine
is reinstated?

Obviously, I don't have a good handle on what it entails.

7. How about an omnibus bill to repeal everything Bush has done?
Every law, every appointment, every policy since he took office.

As long as we're making wishes...

9. Yes!!
It's the right thing to do, and a good symbolic gesture to show that we are going to reverse the damage done to this country by repug rule.
