More Rovian maneuvers in the press: Bigamy/Polygamy |
|
Edited on Tue May-09-06 11:32 AM by Roland99
Notice the # of stories in the M$M re: polygamy? MSNBC just showed a commercial for the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams where they'll discuss what "thousands of Americans" practice.
Wow..."thousands of Americans". Quite the effect on all of society they're having.
More distraction, less journalism.

1. Also plays into the Gay Marriage angle |

It'd be nice if we could get a link between Rove and the Press, but, at a minimum, this certainly is a convenient distraction. Bryant Check it out --> http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com

hot potato topic. Pro-life attacked half the population, women. Anti-immigration rose a sleeping giant as the protests of the last two weeks have shown, and half of those supporters were American Latinos, who can vote. Oops!
Hey, this looks like a safe topic, polygamists! Vote Republican in 2006 because they will keep you safe from the polygamists. Woohoo!

I don't how many followers they had at Waco, but that didn't turn out so well.
But it's on every flipping channel and so freaking fluffed up!
I miss real news. :(

plays to men's (some men's, that is) fervent desire to head up a harem. It's like a dirty story in National Inquirer. Smut sells.

Slippery slopes! And don't forget pedophilia and bestiality, they're next. Karl "rerun" Rove attempting to spread his memes. But it won't work: all he's got left are the fundies, and they don't like poker and prostitution either.

9. Sorry, Rove's powerful, but not that powerful.... |
|
...the media has to have good market share for advertisers to want to work with them. All of the sensational stories we've seen over the past decade or two are designed to gain market share...the more sensational the story, the greater the market share earned. And that translates into money to the bottom line. And money to the bottom line is exactly what the major corporate owners of the media want to see. Unfortunately, being more sensational and earning more profits has come at the expense of reporting/investigating REAL news stories.
Rove and the NeoCons used to have quite a bit more control over the media, but that appears to be loosening as more revelations are coming to light. But that control was always limited to the propaganda, true or false, that the NeoCons wanted to introduce to the American public to influence public opinion. The linking of Iraq to the attacks on 911, and the demonization of Saddam are two excellent examples. The Valerie Plame case is another example of a multi-pronged campaign designed to strike down a critic by killing the covert career of his wife, and eliminating the CIA's WMD-tracking organization. The smearing of McCain and Gore in 2000, and the swiftboating of Kerry in 2004 are two more examples of how the NeoCon Junta works. How about the smearing of Clinton beginning in 1992? That certainly resulted in the type of political atmosphere that led to Clinton's impeachment in the House and his subsequent Senate trial.
And if you look at the MSM currently, one only has to look at the negative stories about Chavez, Iran, North Korea, and other targets of the NeoCon Junta to realize that the Junta's machine is still working overtime. But, IMHO, that doesn't include non-political sensationalistic reporting.

it was done to tell him he was not welcome into the Repuke Presidential campaign for '08. I am no Romney fan but using religion to possibly turn voters off is a slimey manuver regardless on who it is used on.
