Radiopower Not Doing Well.

Hey, guys...

Those of you who listen to an like the streams provided by radiopower.org ought to consider helping out in some way. I've been communicating with Shelby, and she is in some dire financial straits right now, and I just don't see how she is going to keep the operation going much longer. She was a pioneer in liberal talk radio on the net, and has been doing it for about two years longer than I have. And she has a privileged position on Apple's iTunes radio tuning service which exposes Liberal ideas to many who would otherwise not be reached. NOW is the time if you want to help her continue. If you put it off, I simply don't think she'll make it.

I've sent $100, but I'm nearly down to where I need to raise funds for White Rose again.

You may have noticed that my "quarterly" funds drives are more like every 4-5 months. That is because I live as cheaply as possible and try to not ask for funds any more often than I must. Bad business, I know; I could ask promptly every three months, and live in some comfort, but I am acutely aware that the people who give the most to me are often the ones who can least afford it. Were I to somehow be able to get ten percent of White Rose's listeners to donate $10 a quarter, I'd never have to have a funding drive again.

None of this stuff is cheap! I spend like $1200 a month on servers and whatnot, and I know Shelby has similar costs.

14. I Wish Someone Had Answered An Email

Kinda hard to help when either one is not communicated with. I wish her well and have been offering both financial and technical help...never got a reply to my email.

Progressive radio sites are a valuable asset, but a very under utilized one. There's also a lot of BIG changes on the horizon for Internet broadcasting thus those who are in the game and can stay in it will benefit in a couple years. Here's hoping she's able to get things together.

Oh well...I tried. I have access to lots of streaming software and hardware as well as willing to toss in a couple bucks to help in getting things back up and running...but I'm not gonna chase all over the place to do it. I just wanted some specifics so I could see if I could help.

Guess I'm "not hip enough" around here.

Good luck, I can see, again, another Progressive outlet going down the tubes. Maybe its best...in 2004 I gave thousands to websites and audio services...few are operating today.

DU used to be my "online home"...now it's a stop in a growing list of many others.

Too much fighting and I never fit in...i browse, but my contributions have dropped a lot in recent months.

I want to make a positive contribution...seems to be getting harder to do these days.
