WH Demanding ALL Agencies Talk About "Progress In Iraq" 24/7
White House demanding all agencies talk about "progress in Iraq" in every speech/talk. White House keeping score of who does and doesn't.
by John in DC - 5/09/2006 02:18:00 PM

Comrade Bush needs you.
Career appointees at the Department of Agriculture were stunned last week to receive e-mailed instructions that include Bush administration "talking points" -- saying things such as "President Bush has a clear strategy for victory in Iraq" -- in every speech they give for the department.

"The President has requested that all members of his cabinet and sub-cabinet incorporate message points on the Global War on Terror into speeches, including specific examples of what each agency is doing to aid the reconstruction of Iraq," the May 2 e-mail from USDA speechwriter Heather Vaughn began....

Another attachment "contains specific examples of GWOT messages within agriculture speeches. Please use these message points as often as possible and send Harry Phillips , USDA's director of speechwriting, a weekly email summarizing the event, date and location of each speech incorporating the attached language. Your responses will be included in a weekly account sent to the White House."

1st AD soldier killed during Tal Afar foot patrol

Mideast edition, Tuesday, May 9, 2006

A 1st Armored Division soldier was killed Sunday near Tal Afar, U.S. military officials said Monday.

The identity and unit of the soldier were being withheld until family notification, but the soldier was assigned to the 1st Brigade Combat Team, officials said.

Another soldier assigned to the unit was wounded in the incident.

According to the U.S. military, the troops were “assisting Iraqi security forces in clearing a building from which several anti–Iraqi forces were firing at civilians, ISF and coalition forces,” a news release read.

There were few other details of the attack. The 1st Brigade, 1st Armored is operating in northern Iraq under the command of the 101st Airborne Division-led Task Force Band of Brothers.

Suicide bomber kills 17 in Iraq's Tal Afar
Tue May 9, 2006 1:45pm ET

TAL AFAR, Iraq (Reuters) -A suicide bomber killed 17 people and wounded 35 when he blew his car up in a market in the Iraqi northern city of Tal Afar on Tuesday, police said.

Earlier police had said the attack targeted police and army headquarters in the city.

A hospital source in Tal Afar said the casualties included civilians, police and army members.

President Bush in March held up Tal Afar as an example of progress being made in Iraq, calling it a "a free city that gives reason for hope for a free Iraq" after U.S.-led forces freed it from al Qaeda militants in a 2005 offensive.

9. Snicker
Believe me, this is going to turn a lot of former Bush voters into dedicated Dems. The food industry has had it with these arrogant hacks, who've managed to politicize everything and who favor large corporate donors over the health of the industry.

What a pack of dimwits. Terri Teuber's excuse? "We slipped up and sent copies to people who aren't right-wing nutcase bushbots."
