Edited on Tue May-09-06 05:19 PM by jsamuel
Sure, the left is angry. You can't look at what's left of NO after Katrina and not be angry. You can't look at dead US soldiers and Iraqis without being angry. You can't listen to Bush lie over and over again without being angry. What's worse, the media will refuse to call him on it, which just makes us even more angry.

However, the left doesn't hate. That is what separates the left from the far right. The right sees Katrina and the hate comes boiling over. "Those darn black people living on welfare, too lazy and stupid to do anything for themselves." Most left the word "black" out of that sentence, but the meaning was the same. The unspoken racism through class. Those are the kind of comments you saw after Katrina at the other website. That is pure hate, hate for people who needed help.

1. So very true. We get smeared again.
We are angry, and we have every right to be. But it's not to keep others down, it's to help us lift our fellow men and women, and protect our nation from this administration that seeks to dismantle it.

2. Believe me, I hate Bush, his family, his cabal....
and most of his supporters. I've been learning this "hate" thing since 12/19/98.

12. my 'hate'
I used to 'hate' all kinds of things. Silly things that make no matter at all.

now I truly know what is it.
and I'm not the one doing it.

19. Ditto. Look up the word "hate" in the dictionary and then tell me
you don't hate bush and republicans.

And don't give me that "it's too harsh a term" BS. You need to redefine the word
hate into something that it isn't to get around it.

I hate bush. It's simple and it's true.

3. Well, I do.
While many of the conformist-left don't want to claim me, I'm about as lefty as they come. And I've got a serious hate-on for the fucking traitors in office. I've got a slightly lesser one for all those responsible for putting them there, simply because they're fucking stupid and/or gullible and were manipulated into doing so. It's not racial hatred, but I think it's hate nonetheless.

4. I've seen all sorts of hate here. Raw, unbridled, foaming-at-the-
mouth hatred. Seething hatred of Bush (Hitler). Hatred of Cheney. Hatred of fundamentalist Christians. Hatred of all Republicans.

Don't fool yourself. There's all kinds of hate, on both sides.

7. That's good. Don't. I think it's unhealthy and it accomplishes
nothing--other than high blood pressure.

I think it is more effective to disagree with your opponent without demonizing them. Attack the ideas, not the idealogue.

13. I disagree.
I think that's just cliche. Hatred is just another emotion. Like any emotion, it can be healthy or unhealthy, it can accomplish a lot or nothing at all. While it can be more effective to disagree with your opponent sans demonization, there are too many factors that go into an argument to make sweeping generalizations about what's effective and what isn't.

I'm not saying you're wrong for believing what you do, and certainly not for practicing it. I'm just pointing out what I see as wrong with the argument you've posted.

8. Yes. We're Angry. Witth damn good reason too...
...the "The Left is Angry!" claim is meant to distract attention from THE ISSUES we're angry about. We need to stick to the issues - angrily, and ignore the stupid playground bully namecalling.

*sigh*

9. I'd like to concur, but after living in the belly of this beast for the
last 4 years, I do hate them. I wouldn't spit on one of them if they were on fire.
I've had it with trying to be nice to them, they were not duped (at least not in the way they'd have you believe they were), they have no problem with hurting, persecuting, stealing from, or even killing others that don't follow their delusions. They're just pissed that he didn't get to go as far as they wanted him to.

10. Limbaugh was going over this same point today
The usual, "..all the left has is blind hatred..", yadda, yadda.

And I thought, no, it's not hatred at all - it's anger. Deep, abiding, righteous anger.

The same kind of anger that the American colonists had against King George II. The same anger that Russians had against Tsar Nicholas. Iranians against the Shah of Iran. Filipinos against Marcos. Etcetera, etcetera.

You can disagree with it if you want. You can mislabel it as hatred.

But you can't dismiss it and you'd better not ignore it.

26. Exactly. Our rage is extremely focussed. Like a laser beam.
We don't go apeshit over everything we don't like. Nor are we irrational about the things we choose to despise.

Some people believe passionately about ideals and can explain the reasons why, in detail.

But conservatives aren't interested in details.

18. Why do Dems shy away when the Right calls us angry?
The thing that pissed me off most about the "Dean Scream" was that he wasn't on every major network the following day saying that he was angry and refuses to apologize for it.

The Republicans are raping America. A patriot should be angry.

20. Their hate is ridiculous, as ours would be. That said I'm SO tired of
the word "hate" on message boards.

I'm very little concerned about what people may or may not HATE, and very much concerned about what people DO.

21. I don't "hate" the National Blivet
If he were just a dumb ass living next door to me I wouldn't hate him. After all, I don't hate the dumb ass that actually lives next door right now.

And I don't like to think that I fear "him" - meaning Bush*Co because I don't think the Chimp is in charge of anything beyond his own underwear, if that. That would tell me I'm not up to whatever challenge lies ahead and I don't believe that.

But I'm always on alert, my antennae are out to their full length. Maybe that's from being a child of the '50's and a teen of the 60's with incineration 30 min away.

And I am angry about the mis-direction this country is going.

hate is for amateurs.

A killer has no emotion whatsoever, total intensity, but
no emotion whatsoever. The decapatated body of the collapsing
republican corpus attackus, neoconus burious, plantation bankruptus,
speaks more to the work of pros.
