MSM and the subject of abortion
I know that many men have strong feelings about abortion and this rant is not directed at any of you.

Having said that.....I am sick to death of watching man after man discuss why the abortion issue is no big deal or safe from being over turned.

Just once I want to see WOMEN discussing it....remember us? The ones who actually get pregnant, the ones who usually make the choice of whether or not to go through with the pregnancy, the ones who give birth.

Enough with the men on the MSM discussing it, bring the on the women.

Cheers!

1. Amen, sister
Many of our third world countries still have a 14% mortality rate for mothers giving birth.

I've never seen a man lose his life or health during delivery. Much less suffer through the pregnancy and the pain of delivery.

It's also basically the men, Christian radicals and other religions radicals who are favoring doing away with birth control for women.

3. Here's a good link....
http://www.surveyusa.com/50State2005/50StateAbortion0805SortedbyState.htm

I was gladden to see that the majority of the country does not want to see Roe vs Wade overturned - but as usual, get a group of fanatical fundies together and they will try to swing things their way. More women on this issue would put a larger face on this issue - I did give my comments to NARAL that they need to be more in the news and getting their message out since most of their spokespeople are women...good post!

6. I have a few problems here.......
One is that mother nature tends to be incredibly profligate with eggs and sperm; very few fertilized eggs actually come to term. It is, therefore, hypocritical to talk about a few cells as a human being.

Another is that the infant mortality rate in the US is 7.1%; on a par with Mauritius. If you factor race into that equation, the whole thing becomes very clear; white babies die on an average somewhere around the average in the developed world; the rest of the statistics are black and hispanic, which have a mortality rate just over 14%. That, to me, says a great deal about the sincerity of the anti-choice crowd right there.

Factor in the fact that there isn't a functioning social safety net, and the whole rumpus about "innocent babies" becomes hypocrisy.

7. Exactly

Whenever I'm confronted by the Pro-life crowd, my first question is...Are you PERSONALLY willing to fund the woman carrying the child and cover her expenses? Then I follow with...I'm so happy to see that you are Pro-life, it's nice to meet someone who actually lives their beliefs......So how many children have you adopted?

Usually stops them cold.

Most of them are all talk...they don't want ot fund the pregnancies, the medical care and the after birth care.

Cheers!
