Sucks getting the West Coast feed here in Denver. Last night's show is pretty funny. The Fretabuster.

12. I have never heard him laugh before. |
|
Usually he is so serious. Yes, his laugh was kind of Monty Pythonesque! And he still looks like an unmade bed, but he's so pleasantly on the edge of danger all the time! What he does takes real guts.

11. Bergen said that Iraq has helped Osama & al Qaeda |
|
Also, it was interesting to see that Bergen appears to be a huge fan of Stewart.

15. Err, Irag as a whole? Saddam? |
|
Before or after the invasion? I would prefer that you present a quote and something that puts that comment in perspective. I do know that Bergen is really not into our catfights and could easily side with the Bush administration if he thinks they are right about some things. He doesn't cheer lead though.

17. For clarification.... |
|
His remark was that Bush's invasion of Iraq had been beneficial to al Qaeda. He said that al Qaeda had been significantly weakened and implied that they would have continued to become more and more marginalized if Bush had not inflamed the Muslim world with his invasion of Iraq.
Sorry if you misunderstood my description. Bergen presented a factual description of the impact that the US invasion of Iraq had on al Qaeda. His admiration of Stewart was for Jon's wit ("fan" implies that you admire someone's talent as a performer, not their political ideology). Bergen was laughing almost hysterically at Jon's jokes.

resembled Dr. Strangelove?
I was surprised that Stewart did not make a comment on this
