They're right, I DO hate America
If this festering, republican dominated, dung heap is America, then yeah I hate it.

Sorry.

1. It just looks that way through the eyes of the corporate media
Most people are pretty cool.
:)

(THEY just don't want us "human resources" figuring that out.)

3. I understand completely.
I'm glad there's a place like DU; it's just good to know that others are outraged as well. The MSM paints of world of happiness and the evil Dems want to destroy it all.

4. It's like having a father who suddenly decides to cheat on your Mom
Starts drinking heavily, loses the family nest egg in Vegas w/ his new (corporate) honey, tells you all that you aren't good enough, and moves in w/ the 'honey' leaving you, your siblings and your mom destitute.

You may still love him - but you HATE what he's become.

7. Dark times are these, but there have been much darker
Look back at what has been accomplished, and the obstacles our forebears have overcome. Sure, the republicans are trying to roll all that back to the gilded age, but they haven't finished the job yet. Let us not be chagrined and despairing, but take up the burden that has been left to us in this lifetime, and turn this country back to the path of progress. This country, for all its wrongheadedness, false starts, and shortcomings, still has the potential for greatness.

Don't hate America, change America.

9. Positively eloquent...
... and really needed saying.
I'm new here and like to believe I'm here for the same reason as everyone else; to work for a better America. Yet so much of what's posted in the discussion forums appears to have been written by whining petulant children, almost pathologically pessimistic.

Your post was brief, spot-on and makes clear that America <has> much greatness in her past and present and the human spirit for still more. As has been posted elsewhere, there is no crying in politics. Let's <all> roll up the sleeves and get to work.

Best atcha', Organism!

10. Welcome to DU, Hoobash
:toast:

I'll be the first to admit that the last 5 years have been tough on morale. Just remember, when you see us griping for the next couple months, that this is the "off" season. When 2006 rolls around to campaign time, you'll find this place can be very spirited indeed.

19. Rules infraction...
It would appear, yknot, the forum moderators don't see it your way, on neither occasion. I stand by my reply, having meant no personal offense. These are indeed difficult times for those who aspire to take the higher ground, which was exactly my point as well as that of Organism's.

21. Okay. I'll try to think on that. No, seriously.
Thanks for trying, but the reality of a lot of this destruction is really sinking in for me in a way that it never has and it's just...I--could you please elaborate on some of the darker times we've survived?

Picking stuff at random from 1950 onwards...
* Polio epidemic (Salk's vaccine wasn't available until 1955)
* War in Korea
* Jim Crow laws & segregation
* McCarthyism
* CIA-driven overthrows of numerous Latin American leaders and governments
* Cuban missile crisis & other Cold War unpleasantness
* Kennedy assasinations
* MLK assasination
* War in Vietnam
* Kent State shootings
* No choice for pregnant women to abort
* Greensboro massacre

Any of this ringing a bell for ya?

20. I feel that. Just lately...I am so depressed and sad.
About what we could have had, which is now GONE.

I've been meaning to post this for a while, and I guess since this thread has presented me with an opportunity: before the (s)election, I read an article on a RW website asking, "how will the liberals feel after Kerry loses to Bush by a couple of percentage points?" The rest of the article mocked us for our devotion to removing The Fascists and gloried in what the author was sure would be our imminent collective suicide. Well, I've decided that how I feel is...I don't hate these people, but I do hate what they've done to America and it's future. In that future, such as it will be, I'm not going to be interested in tolerating, appreciating, respecting, supporting or valuing Republicans, especially those who supported this shit. I'm done with that. I won't be interacting with them, I won't be working with them, if I'm ever a business owner I won't be hiring them, and I won't feel any sympathy for the way they will suffer along with the rest of us. What they've done has helped taken away my ability to hope for anything substantively good for the future.
