i could swear that when lindsey graham asked judicial nominee alito,
"are you a closet bigot", martha alito subconsciously said, YES

If CNN doesn't change or alter its video of the graham-alito exchange, the first four seconds of that video is where she seems to clearly and unequivocally be saying, "yes".

don't know if anybody else caught her reaction to the question.

1. Here's the CNN link.
http://www.cnn.com/video/player/player.html?url=/video/politics/2006/01/11/sot.graham.alito.wife.crying.cnn

I thought the same thing when I first watched the replay last night but I thought I was just imagining things. The whole "event" was just very, very bizarre.

but hardly anyone (except for you and i) is talking about it. this needs to be really brought out and put front and center!

Martha Alito said "yes", to the question, "are you a closet bigot?"!

2. Graham was asking him a rhetorical question
Edited on Thu Jan-12-06 06:18 AM by Poppyseedman
knowing he would respond with a negative. That's why the misses was nodding her head, Yes.

Graham was his handler for the hearing so he isn't going to ask him a remotely tough question

3. Yes, rhetorical--yet very rude--hearing that word is what caused
Martha A to leave. Yet no reporter will say that-instead they focus on Kennedy--it was all his fault.

6. What's weird
She was actually smiling when Graham said that. Then she starts breaking down when he says "you're an honorable man". And she flings up her hand when he says "you didn't know that when you took the money" and ducks down to her purse to hide her expression. Very odd. She was subconsciously saying something - maybe she knows something he's done that is not honorable. If it were completely true, she'd be nodding during the "honorable" comments - not when Graham makes his bigot comment. It didn't seem staged to me (though it's really suspicious) cause it looked like she was trying to hide her reaction.

9. i think she exposed her husband's truth without intending to, but her
subconscious responses to all of those questions were more powerful than her consciously coached personae.
