overheard regarding bush: "I almost feel sorry for the guy"
me and a couple friends were talking and the subject of how badly things are going for bush came up, and one guy, no bush lover, said he almost felt sorry for the big jerk.

i reminded him that this is a tried and true tactic when a despot finally falls, like nixon and others before him, they'll take whatever pity they can dredge up, from any quarter. and we must resist feeling any pity for such a puke as bush. i have none in me for him, no matter how sad a figure he may ultimately become.

i remember folks feeling sorry for nixon too, especially republicans, who practically start crying over it to this day. pity for genocidal, tyrannical monsters? not here, not me.

1. what the fuck for
it makes no sense. HE is fucking responsible for it. it's not as if he is some innocent upon whom these problems fell. HE created most of it and has caused a lot of suffering for many people. and to make it all worse HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT. he goes on with whatever life he has without a care for the others. he has the power to make things better for others but he wont do it because he doesn't care and probably thinks they deserve it. that's how much of an asshole he is.

2. No, no, no. no, NO!
I made a terrible mistake during Reagan's term when I felt sorry for him too. My attitude was, Oh, he only has two more years to go so he deserves to finish out his term. I didn't realize that the precedent we were setting by forgiving the Iran-Contra clowns would give steam to that kind of criminal behavior in the executive office. We were setting up a terrible pattern, and now Oliver North circulates around the right-wing private schools doing God knows what kind of indoctrination.

If only the media had done a better job of explaining what was going on during that time, the way they succeeded in doing during the Nixon era.

5. Bush is beneath contempt.
And well beyond sympathy. No punishment could be strong enough to make up for what he has done to our country and its reputation.

6. When they wheeled Dick Nixon out of the hospital
after being treated for some ailment, post-resignation, I managed to feel sorry for Nixon. Just a little, and only fleetingly, but my empathy was genuine; he looked like he was miserable and I wasn't having any fun watching his misery.

Similarly, after this rat has been chased out of the White House and publicly disgraced, I might manage to summon some human compassion for the man for what modest difficulties he may have faced in the process.

At present, though, I can't trouble my beautiful mind with such things.

is always saying how she feels sorry for him, that he's just a pawn for cheney et al. i tell her, ma, he's a grown man. if you have to feel sorry for somebody, feel sorry for the families of all those hundreds of thousands he's been responsible for killing. i feel not one bit of sympathy for the a$$hole.
