Democrats refused to use al-Jazeera memo
posted by polizeros 6 hours 13 minutes ago

A British MP helped pass the al-Jazeera memo to a Democrat in the States, hoping to influence the 2004 election against Bush. The memo details how George Bush told Tony Blair he wanted to bomb al-Jazeera HQ in Qatar, a nation friendly to the US. One would think Democratic leadership would speedily use information like this. Instead, in a baffling move, they decided it would help Bush, and never used it.

1. massive groan
I know it's not exactly a 24K verifiable source, but I'm afraid I can believe it.

"oooh, we can't portray the Preznit as a madman! The American public will only love him more!"

good lord.

3. I can see the twisted logic here.
RWers never believe anything critical of DUH-bya. It's all lies cooked up to discredit him, blah blah blah. And Al Jazeera, no less! Please! They're a mouthpiece for "Islamofascists"!

A far-off war being fought for "freedom" is untouchable as far as criticism goes. It's a big secret operation that only the chosen few know enough about to prosecute. It's taboo to even suggest our government would lie to us! :sarcasm:

He has to use the rope he's been given to hang himself domestically, which he's doing in ways that effect the wallets of the warmongers ... at the gas pumps and in health care.

4. dem leadership years behind reality (as usual)
Edited on Thu Jan-12-06 08:38 AM by librechik
it might have worked in Bush's favor back in 03, but by 04...

never mind, what would the Dems have done with the memo? Give it to the NYT or WP for them to expose? Fat chance.
