His wife cried? Who cares? |
|
Not saying anything for or against Mrs. Alito, but who cares if she cried? It doesn't matter to the Supreme Court of the United States. What matters is whether or not Alito is confirmed and what he would do if he is. All this concentration on Mrs. Alito is a DISTRACTION and it has NOTHING to do with what is going on here...
Don't let the media/GOP distract us from what is really happening here... Alito needs to be turned away...

Another voice of reason. So what if she had an emotional moment and had to leave the room crying. Does it really matter in the broad scheme of things. She's entitled to her emotions and way too much time and effort has been spent around here the last two days criticizing her for her tear.
Thanks for starting a reasonable thread on the subject (which I'm sure will turn in the other direction very soon.)

3. our ubermeisters care... |
|
Her blubbering was a terrific way for the media to avoid reporting on Alito's views. Why mention that he'd without doubt vote to overturn Roe, or give Bush the powers of a dictator, or screw us over in favor of corporations when they can play over and over the clip of his wife crying?
It's the perfect dodge for covering the real issues for our corporate masters.

5. The person to blame... |
|
...is who decided it is a good thing to have the wives sit behind them like backdrops. Do the husbands do this also?
If my husband was nominated to the Supreme Court or another important life time appointment (which makes me giggle) I would tell him I will be there for the first session but after that its got to be about him.

letters and emailing. :hi: Nice post.

8. Why are family allowed into the hearings in the first place? |
|
They are only a distraction to the questioners and the person being grilled. They shouldn't be permitted.

9. But her crying wins him public sympathy. |
|
And, if the dems filibuster like I hope they do, the media will run the picture of her crying 24 7 while they talk about the cruelty of the dems.

11. Media Cares...Drama=Ratings |
|
Any little drama will do, they do not care. You know what was the lead in to last nights 11:00pm news on ABC in NY? Why did Alito's wife cry? Stay tuned to find out...

12. Right. Does anyone in the MSM give a sh** about some Iraqi woman |
|
crying because her child, parent, husband, or sibling was just ripped apart by bullets from a US Marine? Does any GOP Senator care if an American mother cries because her child is hungry and there's no food or because they can't provide heat this winter? Did they care about those crying in NOLA last August?

It was a shameful and outrageous act of manipulation for the cameras. It made a mockery of the whole process of these hearings. It proves that there is not one person on the Hill or in the media who has a shred of respect for the Constitution or they would call it out for what it was. A piece of staged drama. Sickening, disgusting!
