so the off button on my radio was used for the very first time. I could not even listen to music. Sobbing I tell you!

There is no drama at these hearings, its all a show. The Reps have the votes and the Dems are too scared to filibuster. Every nominee since Bork has learned never to really answer the questions anyway, so they are confined to speeches by each Senator that are worthless followed by questions with evasive answers.

Useless hearings, waste of time.

They should just study the work of the Judge in question and make their conclusions based on that.

Less television friendly, but since the candidate never answers any questions anyway, he probably has a point.

Dispensing with hearings doesn't mean they would dispense with reviewing the candidates - merely that they wouldn't go through the pointless exercise of putting them on TV for a few days.

9. I was referring to the likelihood Alito will be confirmed with or without

the public hearings. I understand Alito will continue to be scrutinized in some form.
