Judge Alito is not qualified, but not why YOU think (Read)
Think about this entire thing as a normal, average, every-day job interview.

Forget the politics for a second. Seriously, clear your mind of the politics.

Now, think about this:

Every time he is asked about his thoughts on the job he has applied for, he indicates a position pulled from the junior job he is currently in. In other words, he is saying implicitly "I have no idea how to be a Supreme justice, all I know how to do is look to my betters for a ruling that I need to adhere to." At no time has Judge Alito indicated that he is qualified to hold the position he is interviewing for. He has never indicated that he has the ability to form his own opinion on anything whatsoever. He abdicates his responsibility to others in every question he is asked.

From a purely, 100% non-political point of view, Alito is failing, MISERABLY, his Job Interview.

1. That thought crossed my mind, too ...
... from his answers (or, non-answers) ... he doesn't seem to have a solid idea or opinion on ANYTHING.

Bzzzt. Wrong Answer, thanks for playing. Have a nice day, Mr. Alito.

2. Good point. But I'd like to make a distinction.
He has opinions. What he is doing is attempting to obscure them.

He knows it is his opinions and "moral values" that will bring him down if they are revealed.

5. Well, he "defers" to the judgment of his boss. Now the admin, IMO.
In my opinion, the admin is now his boss, in his mind. He is following instructinos to not talk, hedge, refuse, forget.

"This is how you become Justice." "Done and done".

So when he gets on the bench, his first instinct will be to defer to the judgment of someone else, someone in charge. Like the CinC, or state governments. Not the congress: it's got liberals in it.

Expect a bunch of rulings about how the SC should defer to, not substitute it's judgment for, stay away from decisions of the presdient and state governments.

6. Did Bush announce plan for Iraq war in his 2000 campaign?
or his plan for Social Security privatization in the 2004 campaign?

HELL NO. Republicans are born CHEATERS and LIARS. There is always a SECRET agenda.

8. His research assistants
Will do the research make and the findings and write the opinion while he kicks back with a cool one waiting for "His opinion' to be formulated.

All he gotta do then is a thumbs up and a hearty "A-OKAY!"

Collect his check.

9. I agree. On a scale of 1-100, they coached him into answering questions
fully in a range of about 25-45. He is under-testifying. And if Dems try to push something meaningful out of him - they become ogres.
