Mill outside Des Moines (summer job -1970), the had a "gas war". Filled my future father-in-laws Ford Crown Victoria up for about $5.00 total. Had a 24 gallon tank. Gas was 18-19cents a gallon.

2. remember when gas stations gave glasses, etc, for buying there??? + |

there were no self-service stations.......every time you got gas an attendant 'filled 'er up', checked tires, washed windows, etc
