The ongoing Swiftboating of Jason Leopold: Wikipedia Edition
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Leopold

On May 13th, 2006, Mr. Leopold famously proclaimed the indictment of Karl Rove had taken place. The incident made waves online when Will Pitt echoed the conjecture on a progressive website to thousands of raging partisans. However, it quickly became apparent that the story was fabricated. See also Bev Harris. {wtf?}

Who can fix??

1. You can
That's the point of Wikipedia - anyone can change just about anything. So sign up and do it.

2. This is a perfect example
of why Wikipedia is utterly worthless.

And, by the way, regarding indictments?

No one knows anything.

3. Worth less than the corporate media?
Please. You can change errors on Wikipedia. It just takes a while for pages to stabilize. Wait several weeks and it will be correct.

Can you change the errors spewed by faux news?

Here's the edit history - I just removed it again.

16. It was restored.
Look at the link at the top of the page called "History"

That paragraph was deleted at 3:40. It was restored at 3:59. Its about 4:05 now.
Both edits were done by people who weren't logged in.

Changes can be made, unmade, and remade by anyone.

17. I deleted it at 3:40 and 3:59.
Someone put it back in between. I am extremely curious as to WHY.

8. I really like Wikipedia. Obviously it has problems w/ political articles.
Edited on Sun May-14-06 10:50 PM by Democrats_win
It has some good articles about science, broadway shows, and plots of books.

9. Any student who uses wiki as a source on a paper in my class...
gets a big fat F.

It's good for "informal" information, but bad to use for a source when asses or grades are on the line.

19. Wondered how teachers dealt with this problem. Wikipedia has value.
With Wikipedia, you'll always be asking how reliable the information is. Yet you can learn from Wikipedia.

I happened to be looking at astronomy the other day and the question came up: has the solar neutrino problem been solved?

Wikipedia: yes

The library had older astronomy texts and even recent encyclopedias (McGraw Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology 2006) says it hasn't been solved.

However, Wikipedia does give a link
http://nobelprize.org/physics/articles/bahcall/

that says this huge mystery has been solved.

Scientific American confirms that it has been solved.

It was really Wikipedia that put me in the right direction.

27. Wikipedia is wonderful
An excellent resource, a real boon for research -- just as long as it's never, never, never used as a prime source. If you're looking into a topic, there's nothing like Wikipedia to get you right into the thick of names, dates, places, history, controversies at a glance. But if anyone is foolish enough to cite Wikipedia without verifying, I'm with Maddy, they deserve an F.

23. I wonder who's gonna learn how to do real
research in this time of our lives.

Kids and libraries and books and real words you can touch - I wonder.

I ain't optimistic.

You get your check yet?

4. This is disgusting.
I hate when human beings try to destroy each other's reputation.

We live in a fucking crazy world where the word PATIENCE doesn't exists anymore.

At this point nobody knows. The only person qualified to confirm/or not is Fitz.

So, let's wait.

10. I'm with you on this...As I've said before if this falls through...
...I'm not going to hold it against Jason or TruthOut on iota but they better damn well donate $1 to DU for each registered DU member every time they come here waving arms and saying "Yes, get your hopes up- this time it's real!" in the future. And you know what, that's still getting off cheap.

I'm not alone in saying that alot of us are at the end of our fucking emotional rope when it comes to something sticking to this criminal regime. Man, I was surrounded by people when Kerry lost- we were stunned, almost in tears. And every time it looks like that hog's got his foot in a snare somehow he twists loose or the rope breaks and everyone clenches their teeth and says "Next time...next time you bastard, you're going to get some payback for the crimes against our country".

It's just gums now, the teeth are worn away and things are getting understanably sensitive.

11. I understand.
Let's hope tomorrow brings some relief.

It was Pat Schroeder who coined the term "teflon president." Teflon was the correct word. It now applies to the entire Bush administration.

14. It's also toxic
And seeps poisonous fumes into your house. Don't believe me? Get a canary and keep it in your kitchen if you use teflon. In a few weeks, dead canary.

I suppose that also has a place in the analogy but I can't think of what it is just now.

I don't know how the canary fits in, but they have certainly been toxic to many of us.

20. Someone's up to no good -
Edited on Sun May-14-06 11:32 PM by sparosnare
I edited out that paragraph TWICE and checked the page once more before going to bed. This entry was made after my last edit:

'''Jason Leopold''' along with Will Pitt are known frauds and criminals. Their hatred for the United States and all thatis good in her causes them, in their paranoia, to destroy everything that they touch. It is believed that both of them are child molesters on the run from the law. They are traitors of the first order and at some point in time will be arressted tried and incarcerated for their crimes.

I removed it - but someone is intent on smearing not only Jason but Will Pitt too. These are horrible accusations.

29. Gee Maddy
I think that all of the people that like Leopold have all said that we need to adopt a "wait and see" attitude, so as for this post I'm going to have to wait and see if Will and Jason get picked up for child molesting, and all that other stuff :)

I mean where are the sources on THIS ONE?

(C'mon in a wierd way this is funny, in another way I've been nearly called all these things RIGHT HERE for saying that I don't believe a thing Leopold writes, but THAT seems to be okay..)
