Help. Is Faux Knews still pushing the lazy "blacks" in NOLA story? |
|
Edited on Mon May-15-06 12:50 AM by NVMojo
In the past month I've heard it twice now. Out of two different people, unknown to each other, in two different states.
I had to shut my 19 year old son down tonight, lives in Idaho with redneck dad who loves Faux News, on this subject. How? Asked him to explain to me why supposed followers of Christ could piss on the poor when that is something Jesus would not ever do. Jesus did not judge the poor ..."but by the grace of God, there go I" and all.
A local recovering alcoholic right wing fundie attacked me in JCPenneys about 4 weeks ago with the same rhetoric yet she was going to NOLA on vacation to work at a church where these "blacks" were living and not getting off their asses and working.
I am ready to scream!!!!
What's the story???
I don't watch Faux Knews but the two sources of this do. If it's not Faux Knews, then who is spreading this shit?

1. The desperate Repukes who know they are going to lose the next |
|
election. Guaranteed you are going to hear more and more smut coming out of their mouths as November rolls around.
Talk about Ghetto. These "strategists" are the epitome.
Remember Karl Rove spread a rumor to some fundy churches in Texas that Bush's running mate was a lesbian. They fight dirty. They appeal to the most vile parts of their supporters because they have nothing else they can say. They are a complete failure.

8. excluding my son, these words came from vile people ...the type |
|
who feel better about themselves if they have an obscure target to hit.
Thanks for your thoughts, btw. It's a good warning to remember what they've done before. And Rove has been a master at "oppositional research" and "twist it".

2. The Republican Idahoans are going ape ---- |
|
They know the country is in a mess and Faux and the right wing can't seem to settle on who to hate and blame the most, the Blacks, or the Hispanics.
Their answer was by Faux's John Gibson, saying Whites need to produce more kids. These are a sad lot.

http://www.wltx.com/news/news19.aspx?storyid=37795check out some of the comments. It's frightening that this is where some of us still are in 2006...back in 1806. and another: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2281050which is simply to say that good old fashioned racism rears its ugly head once again. It didn't need Fix news to perpetuate it at all.

4. sadly many locals are spreading it for one |
|
if i had a dollar for every time i heard that we need illegals because "blacks" (and they don't always say blacks) don't work, i'd be sitting pretty right now
don't watch fox news so don't know or care what they're saying abt it, i have to hear enough crap w.out tuning into hate teevee or hate radio but i don't doubt that they are prob. programming people w. this b.s.
keep in mind that many of the poorest of the poor are often very old, have significant physical or mental disabilities, or have multiple children to care for, so working is not always an option anyway

5. Was that a story they were running after Katrina? |
|
I lost a friend over this issue. She kept ranting: "Why don't they just walk to the next town and get a job there?"
Meanwhile, she has a multi-millionaire husband, doesn't have to work, and is completely devoid of understanding or empathy. She refused to listen to any other side of the issue. It was so unbelievably creepy.

and doesn't want it upset. I have a Republican friend like that also. They've never enjoyed more wealth than under W and they like it. She runs if I mention how others are hurting. She simply doesn't want to hear it or think about it.

7. I guess they don't want to "waste" their "beautiful minds" on it. |
|
Such insulated lives. What would ever happen if their financial means disappeared? The selfishness and cruelty of the reich-wing is chilling.

9. this sounds like the exact same rant! Keerhist!!! |
|
My son popped off with this after we talked about the immigration issue. His dad is half Hispanic so that was ok. He then said almost the same remark this woman said to you. I asked if his dad was still watching Faux Knews after he told me that his dad told him this. The answer was yes, of course. He's not rich, mind you.
The woman who attacked me in JC Penneys last month and her spouse are fairly situated. Since she became a fundie, I hate to say this, she's unbearable and I find myself wishing she'd meet up with Jose Cuervo again.

11. Well, now I know where that came from. |
|
How sick. And after all the stories -- that even their own reporters were showing -- Faux is still spooning out this garbage.
I hope your friend lets Jose Cuervo show her the light again. ;)

12. Been hearing this crap for years... |
|
The're poor because they're lazy...
They'd rather get welfare than work...
Pure racist bullshit.
And don't forget that you can thank Saint Ronald Reagan for legitmizing this in that speech where he talked about welare fraud.

13. Here's the solution to ANYONE bitching that social services are a problem |
|
While Republicans like pointing to welfare, food stamps or social security as the reason we're in economic trouble in America, here's the real problem:
see how little we spend on ALL social services combined?

14. Most of the blacks interviews after Katrina spoke about multiple jobs. |
|
One woman had three jobs. Many reported how the storm had destroyed second jobs as well has their main employment. Wish folks would report more on the polygomy communities that wholly live off of welfare on purpose...as a way to get back at the government.
