2nd MAJOR flood in 6 monts puts Mass. under water.
It rained for 10 days in October and now the fears of damns bursting are back. Rivers have overflowed, a couple of cities are underwater, literally, and it's expected to get worse. Biblical proportions, as they say. Over 12! inches in the last several days with more rain thru tomorrow.

NO mention of Global Warming causing extreme weather, either. I think people only associate it with hot weather.

1. Thankfully, some units of the Mass National Gard still are in MA and can
help evacuate people in Methuen and Peabody.

Evidently, not all are in Iraq and "patrolling the border"(which isn't the job of ANY state's National Guard)

2. Just heard that on the radio...
the mayor of Gloucester says it's the worst he's seen in 60 years.

It's supposed to rain here till Saturday, then start up gain on Sunday.

(ummm... just how big is a cubit...)

3. Biblical proportions all right, and the fishes are ready to swim
in my cellar. Dead sump pump. And we were prepared for this. New secondary pump last January, did not work when needed. We are north of Boston and might just float away now. 10.5 inches yesterday, 3 more coming today. Can't even get to the pump to see what is wrong. 200 year old house, partial dirt (mud now) cellar. What a mess.

In far northeast connecticut. We had to evacuate in October. Our landlord has owned the property for 30 years, says it never happened before.Nothing in the house, but we got out before we needed a canoe to get from our door to the car!:scared:

9. Getting hammered north shore of Boston
couldn't get to work because of roads closed.

My house is OK but lots of neighbors having to leave their houses.

I've never seen anything like this - people along the rivers are evacuating.

Rivers due to crest tomorrow morning - record levels - worst since hurricane of 1936.

:scared:

Peabody, Mass just south of me the mayor is on tv yelling about all the people
out driving around in the flooded areas - causing problems.

10. Peabody has chest-high flooding in the streets, and it hasn't crested yet.
The tennis courts near our house have water half way up the nets. Raining strong even now with parking lots looking like lakes because there is no where for the water to drain.

this is SCARY

20. Thanks, and to think the insurance companies actually benefit from this.
Disasters are free advertising for them. It increases their subscribers AND their rates. The rates don't decrease when the disasters go away, sot they make out in the long term. Watch the stock prices after these disasters, it's disgusting.

I had no idea that beautiful New England was under water. Stay safe, everyone. And keep all those old homes and buildings for posterity as well as you can. My thoughts are with you from the West Coast.
