BuyBlue.org weighs in on the Telecom industry and their spying eyes
What's New at BuyBlue? Issue 5: The Telecommunications Issue.

Earlier this week we sent out an announcement about a new book that features BuyBlue in Chapter 7 called 50 Simple Things You Can Do To Fight The Right. If you missed that email or you would like information on how to purchase it then please check out this blog entry.

In other news you'll find a small mention of BuyBlue in a Sacramento Bee article here.

There was plenty going on this past week but I wanted to specifically call your attention to two related topics having to do with your communications. The first is the Net Neutrality debate which puts the big telecommunications companies up against pretty much everyone else. The second is the bombshell that USA Today dropped in regards to companies like AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth working with the NSA to provide information about who you've called. There are a few companies that have flat refused to participate in this program such as Qwest and T-Mobile. You'll find lots of information about these topics in our recent blog entries.

And speaking of Net Neutrality that topic will be the subject of one of the case studies we present in our workshop at YearlyKos on June 10th in Las Vegas.

If you want to get more information about YearlyKos, including the impressive list of speakers and panelists, then check out their convention details page. The Riviera in Las Vegas is holding the block of rooms for YearlyKos until May 15th, so register now if you want to go.

Industry of the Week

The industry of the week this week is a combination of the Internet Service...

...and the Phone/Wireless industry.

With all of the things going on with Net Neutrality, the NSA and AOL imposing an email tax it is time for us as consumers to make our voices heard. We all have choices here, maybe not a variety of choices, maybe not "blue" choices but we do have a choice. If you are an area where you do have a choice then use the power of your wallet to make your voice heard. Email your provider about these issues. You'll likely get a canned response but letting them know what you think is still important. If you see something not categorized appropriately please let us know!
