Here's my take on the immigration issue.

The simple act of enforcing the laws on the books already will solve the illegal problem if you want to call it a problem. To go one step further invest building industries in Mexico so they have jobs there too, and a future. I feel safe in saying that the majority would really rather be home with their families and their heritage, and if not let them immigrate here if thats where they really want to be. They're just tired of starving to death thats all and I can't blame them for that or for wanting better for their families. There are a lot of industries that would be conducive to the Mexican people' lifestyles and their countries climate and their resources, as there is in all countries. I would love to be buying products made in Mexico or any of the other countries of the world. But not by greedy American companys out soursing there though.
I am not writing this as flame bait only as my take on the problem. I still have a dream that one day all peoples of the world will come together for the good of all. There's no reason for anyone anywhere to have to live hand to mouth with no chance of a future.
Peace
Have a great day, I am.

1. Dubya should be pushing Fox to invest in his people, he's running
such a shoddy country, and pushing his poor to go to the US. We need to put pressure on him to get Mexico involved in re-invigorating their own economy and also providing more resources towards border security. No reason we should have to handle the entire burden of Fox's failed policies.

2. Take the work to the people
during the gas crisis in the '70s the government helped many small companys relocate into the communities closer to the work force. Here in my county there are several very productive small companys who started under that program. Thats what I say we need to do to the other peoples in the world so they can share in the good fortune also. These companys I speak of here in mayes county are all well paying jobs too I might add.

3. This is a very tough issue for myself and many Americans.
First illegal immigration is HURTING the middle class in a big way. Wages for lower to middle class workers are being affected alot more than Bushco and his business buddies want you to know.

But it would be immoral and un-American to round them up and send them back at this point. Many have children that are US citizens because they were born here and I could not in good conscience split up a family. They need to find a way to allow the ones here to achieve Citizen status provided they go through some required classes.

Border security should IMMEDIATELY be upgraded. This is a security issue and there is no excuse for the current status.

Employers found employing Illegals on payroll with improper documentation should be heavily fined.

Employers found employing Illegals with under the table payment should be jailed. This is borderline slavery.

Immigrant trade workers must be educated about the history of our labor movement and offered the option of union membership. I would love to see how Bushco would react to an invigorated Union revival.

This is my take on things.....let the flaming begin.

5. I agree with you wholeheardedly, The problem lies with the unscrupous
employers and them alone. I don't advocate returning anyone to Mexico. We just have to pick up where we are and move forward, looking back only to help to see the future. If joe blow wants to hire Mexican workers move to Mexico with his industry and hire them. no problem.

6. Don't be embarassed I completely agree with you
That is very well put.

You covered the "WHAT" (we pretty much know the WHO WHEN WHERE to this) but the question is HOW.

HOW

I relatively small investment in technological upgrade will be a long way in enforcing current law and regulations as well as the tracking of those already in this country. It is very hard to find information, real information, on which to make decisions on this matter but I would be willing to bet that most INS cases are still kept in paper files. A simple and transferable upgrade to an electronic system -of just the most basic information- would go a long way here. That and...dare I say... hiring people to manage the cases. Hell hire the "Minutemen" if they want to make a differece ( I fully support them in what they are doing) let them make a difference...I'd be willing to bet that some of the harder opinions there would be changed with just a little familiarization.

7. The problems that seems to be missed through out the world
comes from desperation for survival, less'en that problem and all will enjoy the spirit of good will. I guess this ole dumb assed okie is just too dumb to see the problem as well as steps in the right direction.
