Laura Bush Says Media Enjoying Husbands Low Poll Numbers.

Enjoying is not the word to be used. I don’t think there is anyone enjoying the fact that her husband is a failure.

I for one wish he were a success. I wish he had never gotten us into Iraq or any war under false pretences. I wish he had not squandered the surplus and driven the country into penury through enactment of dumb ass economic policies. I wish he had not staffed the entire government with political hacks. I wish he had not devalued science to placate big business and the religious conservatives. I wish he had not pissed off the world, so that we have to pay people to be our friends. I wish he was not leading a criminal cabal that is selling our liberty, pursuit of happiness and damn near everything else to the top one-percent. I wish he had pursued an economic plan that had not sold the working class out for the sake of cheap Wal-Mart underwear. I wish he had pursued more inclusive and human social policies, rather than pandering to a minority religious segment.

Yes, I wish he had not failed. But, he did. Of course I knew he would from the beginning.

1. The minimal enjoyment
Comes only after years of anguish. But how could we not feel a little bit hopeful to know that our fellow citizens are beginning to see the truth?

Besides, get over it, Pickles, you had plenty of time to "enjoy" Bush's formerly, artifically high approval numbers, while others were paying for them in blood and treasure.

16. "enjoying"? I think NOT...
You can only get so much satisfaction out of "I told you so".
If anything, it's the opposite, knowing things ARE as bad as we'd thought.
Laura Bush is a stupid, stupid woman. :eyes:

2. Saturday, Roy Blount JR on "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me..."
Peter, I have to defend the president here... I think catching that 7.5 lb perch IS the highlight of his presidency. (the audience fell apart laughing at Blount's tongue-in-cheek)

Sad but true.

4. There is no enjoying
Everyone I know is depressed, this country is depressed. She means that the media is "reporting" the poll numbers and that is what she really has a problem with. She would rather censor the media.

6. I know I am enjoying it...
he was never worthy of the position, and for him, it was bought and paid for, with a little cheating for good measure. He was and is a little smirking spoiled arrogant coward, so hell yes, I am enjoying the fact that more people are finally seeing in 2006, what was so obvious in 2000.

8. Oh sure. 1. The media has been easy on this guy and 2. I guess
you are saying we were all hoping for a completely incompetent President and mass murderer to boot. Just so we could relish in his low numbers.

I can't understand what she's bitching about. RWers just don't understand the concept of you get what you deserve.

11. I'm not enjoying the fact that Bush is a failure....
Since he was my Governor, I was pretty sure he'd continue his ways after he was given a "social promotion" to the White House. His failure has resulted in 9/11, at least one illegal invasion that's still killing, soaring government debts & attempts to destroy social, environmental & health care legislation.

His failure has been horrible for our country. And for other countries, as well.

I'm enjoying the fact that the rest of America is finally waking up. Too bad it didn't happen earlier.

12. It's spelled L A U R A - there's "U" in her name.
I spell my name without the "U" and I don't want to be in any way associated with this Stepford clone.

14. Laura, "smoke and mirrors" -- she and her husband, daughters...
all hypocrites -- have a history of drugs, out of control boozing; some role model, Laura, the educated librarian, whose upper lip is so wrinkled from years of smoking -- proves she's not that bright and hardly someone we should listen to.

18. Enjoy it while you can. His disaster has not yet been fully realized.
Americans have not yet felt the true effects of this maladministration. Just wait.

And Laura, polls are better than lamp posts. Be very happy the American people are too lazy to do something about this mess.

19. Who does she think Junior is?
Edited on Mon May-15-06 09:59 AM by PATRICK
Nixon? That was enjoyment- and fear. Today it is all fear and their own skins are at risk along with their corporate guy because they have enjoyed riding his lucrative power grab. That is totally the opposite of what it was back then and back then the press was not all that heroic or liberal or professional either.

What is speaks to is more WH disconnect with reality, with their own props and supports, their own spiteful attitude toward the kicked lapdog they would have now as just another scapegoat. Which is it? If Laura believes that they don't know which, if they can't stand by their real friends, this political expediency of using a very prime asset as a whipping boy means they are skating on deep waters- and functionally deranged.

22. Just like Mrs. Lay (Enron) going on TV & boo-hoo-hooing
about how they had to sell a couple of their homes. These Republican bigshots are all the same ---arrogant, living in a bubble of unreality and clueless about the lives of middleclass or poor people. And more to the point --- nobody elected Laura Bush. Who gives a flying rat's ass what her private opinions are.
