With regard to what is "news": Fitz Grand Jury isn't like ANYTHING ELSE |
|
in DC. Here's why:
Fitz's office and the GJ are actually obeying the laws making the proceedings secret. That means that the ONLY people who REALLY know what is going on AREN'T TALKING. There's no inside info, no knowledgeable leaks, no background briefings, NOTHING from the inside.
The people who ARE talking are those who extrapolating from clues or have a personal agenda, eg, defense attorneys trying to spin and the media who are trying to read tea leaves.
So really, anything you hear about what Fitz is doing or the grand jury is doing must be discounted as coming, directly or indirectly, from someone who doesn't know or has an incentive to lie.
All you know is that you aren't getting the information from someone who really knows what's going on. All THOSE people aren't talking.
So relax, be skeptical, and wait for it.

i have hardly been reading du because of all hte speculation. i am so into what comes, comes. and then talk about it. this ahead of time outrage or disappointment or anger, before we know is a waste.
i am in the wait for it camp

4. I think it's part of the hope that something will save us |

from our crap record in the elections. the UN, Fitz, the Hague, something.
So the speculation can't wait, I suppose.

5. Just as an example of a different way of doing things |

This re: the Duke case. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/more/05/15/duke.lacrosse.ap/index.htmlFor those not interested in the link, it's real simple: the District Attorney here is creating news stories by spreading the word that indictments MAY happen, and that he would LIKE to charge a third Duke lacrosse player with sexual assault, to keep media attention on the case and his own profile sky-high. Fitz isn't doing that.

It's not a situation where the only guys who know what is going on with the GJ are talking strategy on the tube.

7. I think that is an assumption.... |
|
"That means that the ONLY people who REALLY know what is going on AREN'T TALKING."
How do you know that? You think people on the GJ never leak info? They are somehow immune to being human?

8. I'm not talking about what OTHER grand juries or prosecutors. |
|
Fitz is ethical and professional. As for whether there are leaks coming out of his office and the grand jury, there's no sign of it....and the lack of news, that is, news that turns out to be correct, proves it.
You shouldn't trust any "news" about the GJ operations.
