Rawstory Spamming

Anyone ever get the impression Rawstory spams this board? Multiple posts, all referencing each other, suddenly appearing?

you just have to click through about 30 posts to find one that you wanted to read, it's been that way since they showed up.

Don't complain tho, they have things that come after you with millions of claws and teeth and some kind of wierd gibberish language that makes you think you've gone insane :)

7. No; look at tech sites

Post something on techish on reddit and watch it spread to digg. Vice versa. Next day, 3 versions will end up on slashdot. It's how syndication works. And it's why this is called an "echo chamber". Not spam, just people wanting to scoop the sites they visit.

They only have one thread up right now. The other threads with links to Raw Story were not posted by Raw Story by by regular DUers.

Most of us have done it from time to time- omitted doing a search on a subject to see if there was already a thread up. Easy to do when we get excited about a find. Sometimes it is accidnetal and a matter of other threads on a subject having misleading or confusing topic lines.

Then, there are many who willfully post dupe threads on a subject. When they start out with something like: Mods, I know this is a dupe but it is a different*.... (*source, headline, byline, angle or they just wanna start another thread to get a headline or something :shrug:) we gotta figure it is a dupe done with full knowledge that it's a dupe

It is an old problem and not one limited to subjects of Raw Story reports. Has more to do with rushing or ego than spamming for any particular site.

The one spam-y thing I have noticed here lately is all the posts putting Raw Story down. ;) Maybe Skinner could open a special forum: Bash Raw Story Here Forum and the rest of us could avoid that particular echo chamber if we want to.
Personally, I am wearing out the Hide Thread button :D

13. I think people need to keep in mind that people like Lala

work for Raw Story or another organization, but they are also regular posters here. In other words, they are regular people just like me posting on a message board when not posting a story their site is carrying.

I decide what threads I will read and by whom. If a story is big enough to catch the attention of enough du'ers, then there must be something to it.
