Liberal blogs played, victims of an elaborate hoax!
Yet, not one major media report about the hoax. Nothing except a leak-related question from this morning:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=1192681&mesg_id=1192681

CNN's The Situation:

Look to an 11 a.m. ET speech by Bush's top political advisor, Karl Rove, to see what he has to say on illegal immigration, the Medicare Prescription Drug Program and the midterm elections. The speech will take place at the American Enterprise Institute.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/05/15/sr.mon/index.html?section=cnn_latest

Currently, the story of Rove's indictment and reports of a hoax are limited to the blogs. Rove's spokesman is said to have issued a statement:

Nothing in the MSM!

I'm looking forward to the MSM article confirming the "hoax."

1. So he made a speech. Not exactly conclusive evidence.
"I'm looking forward to the MSM article confirming the "hoax." "

Why would you say something like that?

4. I expect the MSM to report something.
Either a report on the hoax or the indictment. Also, it's suspicious that Karl Rove's spokesman makes a statement denying a report that he's been indicted and it (the statement) gets no MSM coverage.

5. The spokesman's statement got some MSM coverage. How else did you and I
hear about it? How often have you heard MSM stories about stories where the reporter got burned? I know tons of times where that's happened and we all scream for the reporter to burn the bad source. It just doesn't happen in the MSM. Not to mention, the MSM doesn't do stories that aren't typed out for them to read from, they can't handle the nuance and storytelling required to go through any of this stuff, so they just ignore it and keep reading press releases that get handed to them. When the WH tells them what to say, they will say it.

11. The New York Sun is the MSM?
The paper's owners include Hollinger International, the company once led by Conrad Black until his arrest warrant following numerous indictments by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald. Other Sun owners are a group of New York City businessmen, as well as the paper's two founding editors. The paper's staff include many well-known political conservatives. Major backers of the paper include Bruce Kovner, a billionaire financier who is also a backer of the neoconservative Manhattan Institute and American Enterprise Institute, as well as Roger Hertog, a trustee of the American Enterprise Institute, which is associated with the Project for the New American Century. The newspaper's president and editor-in-chief is Seth Lipsky, formerly editor of The Forward, a Jewish-oriented weekly. The Sun's managing editor is Ira Stoll.

The Sun was created to establish a pro-free market conservative broadsheet in New York City to rival the New York Times. One of the founders of the Sun, in fact, previously established and edited a website devoted to issuing daily critiques of the Times. Like the Washington Times, which was launched as a conservative rival to the Washington Post, the Sun is close to the Republican Party and neoconservative intellectuals. Especially on foreign policy issues the Sun's editorial opinions resemble those of the Jerusalem Post or the neoconservative The Weekly Standard magazine.

The New York Sun is well known for its arts coverage, which includes such critics as Adam Kirsch on literature, Jay Nordlinger on classical music, Pia Catton on dance, Lance Esplund on art, Otto Penzler on mystery writing, Carl Rollyson on biography, and Will Friedwald on jazz. The Sun has also received critical praise for its sports section, whose writers include Tim Marchman, John Hollinger, Sean Lahman, and Thomas Hauser.

14. It's not a blog is it? So a newspaper is only MSM if it's the Wall Street
Journal? What exactly is your point anyways?

2. Rove Said - I Know What Will Bring Those Liberals To Their Knees....
lets put a story out that I'm indicted. Then we really pull the rug out from under them and let them find out it is a hoax. With us spying on them with the NSA this will really demoralize them and get them to think they have no hope. We are almost there to complete and total control. Ha Ha Ha..........

6. I don't understand.
Is the MSM supposed to report on a hoax about a story in a publication of which most people have never heard?

If indeed this whole affair has been "limited to the blogs," maybe that's a good thing.

10. Are you saying that the MSM doesn't pick up blog stories?
They picked up a story about phony pictures on an elected official websites, but not one that's causing a stir related to a senior Bush administration official, who is currently the subject of a GJ investigation, being indicted!

I don't know, seems far fetched!

9. IMHO, if the MSM had definitive proof that Rove was not going to be....
...indicted, they would have publicly, and very noisely, torpedoed Leopold's story by now.

Silence. Total silence.

17. Here's what's wrong with your opinion there:
the general public has no idea who Leopold or truthout is...therefore why would the MSM quickly jump in to torpedo his story?

Even if MSM has telephoned all sources and gotten denials...they would not consider this a big story and therefore would likely do nothing quickly or "noisely".

It will get small mention if it doesn't materialize...more Sunday morning talk show fodder to support the accusation that blogs have no credibility, that's all. If it materializes THEN we'll see some noice.

You

20. ummm...here's a theory. Darth goes about his regular business...
today, hoping that the story doesn't break in MSM until tomorrow, so it doesn't mix with *'s primetime appeal to racism tonight. If this is true, Darth would be his usual feisty self, carrying on as if nothing was gonna happen, and hoping, inside, that they at least get the rest of the day in the clear for *'s Zeig Heilfest tonight.
