Lindsey Graham -- HILLARY and CHELSEA never cried!
Edited on Thu Jan-12-06 01:07 PM by grasswire
Think about it.

Mrs. Alito's husband has had a couple of days of questioning.

Mrs. Clinton's husband (and Mrs. Clinton herself) went through ten years of hell -- the most humiliating, disgusting intrusion of personal life ever carried out on the national stage. From the searching of her underwear drawers to the rude insults about her thighs, from the speculation about her sexual orientation to the vicious attacks on her husband. Hillary never cried. (Edit for literalists: Hillary never cried in public in order to sway opinion or affect news coverage.)

And Chelsea, my god. Called a "dog" to millions of radio listeners. Berated and insulted. People even speculated publicly about how her father was probably sexually abusing her. Her parents' marriage suffered so because of the smashmouth political attacks. (Edit for literalists: Chelsea never cried in public in order to sway opinion or affect news coverage.)

Republicans have a lot of nerve trying to garner sympathy for Mrs. Alito. Damn them.

Lindsey Graham was an impeachment "manager." Did Lindsey Graham ask for sympathy for the Clinton women during the impeachment trial of their husband/father? Well? Did he?

1. of course not
Because they are hypocritical sons-of-bitches. They all deserve to be ousted from office. At lease Sen Graham is missing those chromosomes - so i guess he has an excuse. I pity him and all South Carolinians

3. Chelsea was compared to a dog on television, not radio.
Edited on Thu Jan-12-06 12:53 PM by barbaraann
I saw it. Rush Limbaugh put up a picture of Chelsea and "accidentally" said it was the White House Dog.

If I had been Chelsea, I think I might have committed suicide over that.

17. really?
YOu would have committed suicide over el Rusho's comment? I think Chelsea was conditioned to have a lil more thick skin than that.

As for poor poor Ms. Alito....give me a break. That might as well as been as staged as Bush's troop speak.

30. There have been plenty of 13 (or so) year olds who have committed
suicide over much more trivial things than having been nationally humiliated, BD . . .

36. I have a relative to tried to commit suicide over something similar.
For real, at the same age. 13 is a very tumultous time for many human beings.

I have to say that whatever their faults and problems the Clintons did an incredible job raising Chelsea and they deserve a lot of credit for her being able to handle Rush's savage attack.

42. No doubt
I am not denying the power of words to harm. I have worked with suicidal youth for about 16 years.

But let's stop the "victimization" of people when it is not and perpetuating this ultra-senstivitiy regarding words. Chances are the two children you mentioned who completed the suicidal act dealt with a helluva lot more than simply being compared with a dog or were called a name once.

Life is not easy and it will not be served to you on a silver platter with sweet words all the time. Our children will not grow develop and survive if we continue to treat them like fragile glass.

He's a hypocrite. Just as Scalito and his wife are hypocrites. She knows, better than anyone, what a fascist her husband is. Cry me a river. The world is already crying. The Iraqis are drowning in their own tears.

No, no sympathy from me, not for the Scalitos - or Graham. I hope Graham is neck-deep in the Abramoff corruption. He'll be begging for sympathy, then.

However, I cannot, for the life of me, recall either Hillary, nor Chelsea, losing it in a public forum and running from the room like Martha-Ann did.

On edit: Mrs G, did you read this post from dKos yet? It raises serious questions about the legitimacy of her outburst.

...the cynical manipulation of the national conversation forces us to hit back. If Dems have learned anything in the last six years, it should be to never let the smashmouth politics go without an answer. John Kerry lost the presidency because he would not fight the right's framing and the dirty tricks.

...the War (Jessica Lynch rescue), to Lynne Cheney's outrage about being reminded she has a lesbian daughter, to Bush's fake fucking ranch, we have NO CHOICE BUT to take everything they say, everything they DO with a MOUNTAIN of salt.

They lied and lied and lied and lied. Sorry if I don't believe the lying pieces of shit anymore (including Alito's wife!)

18. No- I get the point
I can't believe people truly believe this woman was 'acting'

and he said they "never" cried. I highly doubt that they never cried. I wouldn't presume to know either.

I'm not deliberately missing anything. I'm seeing a bunch of immature posters pick on a woman who is in a very tense situation, who possibly doesn't even want to be there, and finally broke down emotionally when someone was defending her husband after two days of grilling.

38. Well, this immature poster who holds Mrs. Scalito
responsible for her behavior can answer your question.

We know Hilary never cried in public because the RW Thuggery would have drawn and quartered her had she done that. We would ALL remember it.

But, please, defend Madame Scalito. I doubt she gets much comfort from her Exxon stock or from her bigoted husband.

44. If you read the OP, it states that Hillary and Chelsea "never cried"
They weren't on camera when what was said about them was said. How does anyone know what they did in private?

As someone who also cries sometimes at the drop of a hat - in happiness as well as sadness - I can say the I think her tears were real.

I think she probably doesn't enjoy sitting there all day listening to people grill her husband. She has probably never had any media attention in her life and it must be overwhelming. And when someone finally starts to defend her husband and say nice things about him, she did what many wives might do. She got emotional and cried. I would probably do it too. I just don't see what the big deal is.

I don't see why we have to stoop to the level of the Limbaughs of the world. It should be beneath us.

Those Democrats are so MEAN! When will they stop PICKING ON ME? All I want it to make George Bush happy and hand him the dictatorship he's been ardently wishing for the past five years. Oh, and to set women's rights back 30 years, too. And to keep minorities in their place. Yeah. That's all I want. So why do you have to be so darn MEAN? Why can't you sit down, shut up and stop asking questions.
