Rove spoke at AEI today
But no comment on the Plame affair....

http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/05/15/D8HKBI582.html

Presidential adviser Karl Rove blamed the war in Iraq on Monday for dragging down President Bush's job approval ratings in public opinion polls. "People like this president," Rove said. "They're just sour right now on the war."

Rove said that Bush's likeability ratings are far higher than his approval ratings. "There is a disconnect" because of the Iraq conflict, Rove told the American Enterprise Institute.

"I think the war looms over everything. There's no doubt about it," Rove said during a question-and-answer session after a speech on the economy at the conservative think tank.

Rove, who is deputy White House chief of staff and Bush's top political adviser, brushed aside a question on his own role in the federal CIA-leak investigation, saying he would not go beyond statements by his attorney. "Nice try," Rove told the questioner.

2. He looks pale and tired...
I guess the stress of an impending criminal indictment may be getting to him. Too bad.

5. the economy
Edited on Mon May-15-06 01:06 PM by marions ghost
is fine. We pulled it out of the Clinton slump. Tax cuts are the answer to all Q of an economic nature.
No Iraq isn't going as well as expected but everything else is just great. We've made headway on "entitlements" and we'll continue to cut govt spending that way.

The pretzeldent's approval ratings mean nothing. People know that he's still going to give them a chicken in every pot. His likeability factor hasn't slipped, only his performance numbers. So nothing to worry about.

8. we don't talk about deficits
in polite Repuglican company. :spank:

The most preposterous thing he said was that they expect a GAIN OF TEN congressional seats in November....:silly:

"...consumer confidence is relatively high. In fact, it is much higher than the average of the last 40 years," said Rove, arguing that it should lead to a gain of 10 congressional seats for Republicans in November's midterm elections.

Re. we the common persons:

"Their personal circumstances are good. They're feeling good about where they are. They don't like gas prices. Who likes having to pay more at the pump? But they do feel that overall the economy is good for them, that the prospects for their family in the near term and for the future are good," Rove said of Americans.

"They're worried about the long haul. They've heard about the problems with Social Security. They're worried about globalization. But they're confident about where they are right now and where they find themselves," he added.
:puke:

6. Whistling Past The Graveyard
Guess Karl thinks he's "bulletproof"...or at least wants his coven to think he's that way. This dog and pony show was shadowed by the Sword of Fitz and Rove showed it. It reminds me of the con man...when he knows he's on to, he turns up the bullshit and charm...trying to evade his prosecutors and fool all the others into thinking he's not up to anything bad.

The man surely has a pair on him...coming out and pretending its business as usual...so his corporate media lapdogs get the chill that he's still out there and they better watch what they say and how they say it. Even if he's indicted, I expect Rove to play games and still stay a power within the Repugnican coven...the party is hooked on him like heroin.
