Kryptic Words from Rove (MP3)
I made little snippet of a couple of things KKKarl said today that struck me as odd. I tagged them on after David Corn's wicked cool question to him today at AEI. I think those two comments at the end are pretty weird...Give a listen and tell me what you think:

1. He admits he's off message and that they may not let him in the WH again.
What's the deal with dropping off documents in Lafayette park?

4. Watergate reference

I believe. At least in the film, Bernstein met with a phone company dude on a park bench in Lafayette park. Oddly, Abramoff and Norquist used to play their reindeer games in that park:

A quarter of a century ago, Abramoff and anti-tax crusader Grover Norquist were fellow Young Turks of the Reagan revolution. They organized Massachusetts college campuses in the 1980 election -- Abramoff while he was an undergraduate at Brandeis and Norquist at Harvard Business School -- to help Ronald Reagan pull an upset in the state.

They moved to Washington, maneuvered to take over the College Republicans -- at the time a sleepy establishment organization -- and transformed it into a right-wing activist group. They were joined by Ralph Reed, an ambitious Georgian whose later Christian conversion would fuel his rise to national political prominence.

Soon they made headlines with such tactics as demolishing a mock Berlin Wall in Lafayette Park, where they also burned a Soviet leader in effigy. "We want to shock them," Abramoff told The Post at the time.

They forged lifelong ties. At Reagan's 72nd-birthday party at the White House, Reed introduced Abramoff to his future wife, Pam Alexander, who was working with Reed. She eventually converted to Judaism and embraced the Orthodox beliefs Abramoff had adopted as a teenager.

And...lil' Jimmy Guckert made a Lafayette park reference not too long ago...

The media is frustrated that the template of Watergate isn’t working here. There is no participant in the investigation feeding information to the Washington Post and there is no money trail. This has put their blatant partisanship on display. Democratic operative Lawrence O’Donnell insists that Karl Rove is the leaker, but has offered no proof. Radio host Rush Limbaugh observed that if Rove were the leaker, it would have been revealed during the presidential campaign. If there is anything in Cooper’s notes to implicate Bush’s political advisor it would have been faxed to the Kerry campaign from a Kinko’s in Texas or been “found” in Lafayette Park last September.

6. Or it could just be a well known park in the D.C. area
...that it gets a mention all the time. Isn't that where Foster committed suicide?
