The oil would just go to other countries who would then sell it to us. Hard to embargo a commodity like oil.

Oh, and Venezuela owns several LARGE refineries in the U.S.....which could be a problem....for us.

2. Well, this would be the time of year to do it!

It is summer and the heating oil from Venezuela is not a matter of life and death here...but it would send one loud message from Venezuela to the usa administration about just which country needs the other most...there is already much competition for the remaining oil in the world and if Venezuela does not sell its oil to the usa, plenty of other countries are ready and more than will ing to take that oil. And, from that point on, the new buyers of Venezuelan oil, will also be more than ready to protect that country and their new source of oil from the USA
