5. MSNBC talked to Truthout (within the half hour) |
|
and truthout said they had two solid confirmations and that is why they went with the story. Things are starting to buzz more now, and maybe the msm is getting a little antsy to be on top of it...

You can only be a journalist one way. You ask questions. Verify. |
|
Ask again. Verify. You cannot do anything more than that.
If a whole group lied to "only" Leopold on Friday.. THAT THERE IS A STORY!!!
Here are my questions: Did the sources know they were lying or were they themselves set up?
If they were told to lie - who told them?
If the sources were lied to - who lied to them?
A big story either way.

Journalists are lied to all the time by sources. A good journalist knows how to differentiate between the "noise" and the legitimate sources. We depend on journalists to do this job and report the news, and not report unconfirmed rumors. Truthout should be held to that same standard, especially if they want to be taken seriously by a mainstream audience.

7. Whenever I'm told that something will be done in X business days |
|
I just kind of roll my eyes. Then I ask what the definition is of a business day. Is Saturday a business day? To some businesses it is and others it isn't. Then you throw in holidays, Sundays and other technicalities.

3. Excellent...::nods head:: |

Well,
this tells me a lot, Truthout is aware of the blogstorm about this story, even at this late time they are standing by the story. I will stand with them.
It seems they believe they have airtight sources. It's good for me.

6. "Business hours" - ridiculous but convenient |
|
Absent the Leopold story, there was already a sense that Rove might be indicted by the end of the week. Now Truthout comes out with this otherwise unheard-of notion that "24 hours" = three 8-hour work days (we wouldn't want Rove to collect overtime while getting his affairs in order!) so that Leopold's story will line up more closely with expected events.

and one thing only that stands out as a real benchmark here.
That is if there was no meeting in Luskins office on Friday, the article has been shot in the heart. That either did or did not happen.
If that meeting did happen with Luskin and Fitzgerald--regardless of how long he was actually there, everything else could be massaged and finessed into bad translation or interpretation of the information given.
Jason Leopold should want somebody's head if that meeting did not take place. The fact he's holding firm tells me he has confidence in his source.

12. Glad it's "out there" on Msnbc: The smoke will be even better press |

than the fire. This is good for turning the last B*** hold-outs- Worrying that they backed 3 losers: Libby, Cheney and Rove.
So many people only wanted to know they voted for the winners in 04. This will burn them and they'll probably stay home in 06 and 08. That's great news for sanity, everywhere.
So, if just these rumors start spreading around, that's fine with me. Even if he pulls some kind of deal to wiggle out of it, we need to have this hit the msm, if you can call MSNBC main stream....
I also don't see us losing on this even if it's not true. No skin off our noses. We lose no credibility: Truth Out does.

|
But his conversation with MSNBC is icing on the cake. I'm with you, Jason.
