ABC Nightline ain't touching the Brian Ross NSA spying story - WTF? |
|
Nothing surprises me anymore.
The show's email:
Tonight on 'Nightline'
May 15, 2006 --
THE PRESIDENT AND THE BORDER
The president asked the networks to interrupt their regular programs for a major speech tonight. As Congress debates the very contentious issues of immigration reform, the president has decided to take a lead on the issue by proposing new measures to tighten security on the border four U.S. states share with Mexico. Specifically, Bush will propose deploying several thousand National Guard troops to help the existing border patrol and local law enforcement. We'll give you the highlights of the speech, reaction and analysis. Why is the president doing this and why now?
BORDER WATCH: THE MISSION
The National Guard is already deployed on the border in both Arizona and New Mexico. "Nightline's" Vicki Mabrey was given exclusive access last night to the National Guard unit that watches the border from the air. In special airplanes and helicopters, they fly over the border watching with all the latest infrared technology. Their main mission is to track drug smugglers, but they work in coordination with the Border Patrol to help spot illegal aliens attempting to come into the U.S. We'll give you an inside look at the current mission and how it might shed light on what the president wants to do.
CARLOS MENCIA: THE STAND-UP IMMIGRANT
He makes fun of the people the president will talk about in his speech tonight -- his own people, immigrants to this country, legal and not. His comedy is outrageous and angry. His act is born from a very real and hard upbringing, where he says humor was a means of survival. Jake Tapper sat down with this comedian with lots to say about the way American society works these days.
We hope you'll join us.

4. So *'s Address Tonight Is Accomplishing Just What They Wanted It.... |
|
to and that is take the pressure off the NSA and Rove/Cheney/Fitz stories.
It is also hoped that tonights address will help *'s poll numbers and provide him with a photo-op later on this or early next week when * shows up at the border posing with the NG.
I think that this will backfire on *Co because already I'm sensing that some in the media and on both sides of the aisle are dissing *'s immigration plan.
I'm hearing that they are saying that it is too little - too late. He's not going to win points with this one.
