Bush's 5 Point Immigration Plan, Here:
Rep. Jack Kingston (R.-Ga.), vice chairman of the House Republican Conference, tells me that President Bush will outline a five-point plan tonight on national TV that emphasizes border security and a temporary guest-worker program.
Here are the five points Bush will emphasize, according to Kingston:

Border security: Under Bush’s watch, the number of Border Patrol agents has increased from 9,000 to 12,000 and more than 6 million illegal aliens have been sent home. In an effort to bolster security at the border, Bush will order the deployment of up to 6,000 National Guardsmen to play a support role. He will also ask for money to build a virtual border fence, which includes increasing the number cameras, roads and UAVs.

Temporary guest-worker program: The White House will embrace a plan similar to the Hagel-Martinez compromise legislation in the Senate.

Interior enforcement: Bush will endorse a bio-metric ID card, although it’s unclear if this will be required for all Americans to make it work.

Deportation: The White House will propose an end to the catch-and-release program. As a practical matter, Kingston was told there’s no way to deport the more than 11 million illegal immigrants already in the United States.

Assimilation: Bush will tell immigrants they must become part of society and learn to share American ideals. There was no commitment to any type of test to reinforce the idea.

5. Chertoff talked of this a few months ago. Think it is being used in some
airposts for visitors and wants to use it for people to go in and out of country on frequent basis.

2. I want this bastard to leave me out of this! I dont' want no ID or
any other restriction on me. I'm not an illegal and I don't live anywhere near that damn border!

If the clown's speech has been released and talked about at length all day long by the talking heads, then why does * have to interrupt America's primetime viewing.

22. Some Links that touch a bit on what a Biometric card can do....
there's much more that isn't mentioned and why privacy advocates get more then a bit upset when a National ID version of this is brought up. (I had to go double check that it was what I thought it was... it is.)

Biometric IDs could see massive growth: http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/technology/2005-08-14-biometric-id_x.htm

DHS strives for single, multiuse biometric ID card
http://www.washingtontechnology.com/news/1_1/daily_news/28384-1.html

The Homeland Security Department is working to help develop a single biometric card and reader that can handle multiple requirements for secure border crossings, Secretary Michael Chertoff said at a travel conference April 11.

The goal is to harmonize the upcoming People Access Security Service card, known as PASS, for frequent border crossers with existing trusted traveler programs for Canadians, Mexicans and truck drivers, he said in his prepared remarks.

The existing programs include the Free and Secure Trade commercial truck driver identification cards and the Nexis and Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection cards for Canadians.

<snip>

He said the objective is to build a biometric card and reader that will allow people to use the same card in different ways to meet multiple access and security requirements.

There's a lot more just Google "biometric card" B-)
