Need phone company help! In light of the snoops snooping our telephone
calls etc. I want to find an alternative to ATT/SBC, verizon, etc. I would go with Qwest, but they don't serve CA. Anyone know anything about or have experience with the internet phone companies like vonnage or Opex. They look like great deals -- but do they really replace a real land line???

2. The problem I have...
is I don't believe any of em. My trust is completely shot.
My own phone co (rcn) told me that they did not
share any customer info with the NSA. But why should I
believe em?? All these telcos have shattered the public trust.

I tell ya what though.. the first company to come out and regain
our trust will be successful beyond their wildest dream.
No kidding.

3. Boost Mobile. No phone records pre pay minutes, walkie talkie feature
You will not get a phone bill, therefore their should be no phone records. You can pay for the phone with cash. I have one and they have many nice phones to choose from. Eliminate your land line, use cable modem.

4. Vonage is good but depends
Edited on Mon May-15-06 06:27 PM by simonm
Quality depends mainly on your connection speeds. There is also a slight lag with voip but is hardly noticeable. 911 should be no problem as long as the address info is updated.

Yes, as good as a land line....until your Internet connection goes down.

Vonage Speed Test
