Poll question: True or False: American politics is always about economics?
It may come in disguised forms but the underlying issue is always about economic interests.

2. American politics is only about economics when the economy is bad.
It's said that JFK once asked an advisor how much he had to improve the living standard for the average American before they voted repub. While I don't know if that's a true story, it is true that when people feel comfortable with their income they look toward other issues such as morals to vote for. My opinion is that the only reason bush came close enough to steal the election in 2000 is because Clinton created such a good economy that people felt they had the luxury of voting their so called "ethics".

3. Well, you got me there ...
Is robbery about economics? Makes it sound a little too civilized for my taste.

4. "Economics" is a hard thing to define in American politics.
I think the American politics is always about some form of racism. Now, exploiting racism always has some underlying 'economic' force. However, subliminal racism trumps overt economic understanding every time.

To the shepherds, even the non-economic issues are economic issues.

mentality in full force now, under one party (republican) fascist corporate rule in this country...everything revolves around the monetary aspect of things to survive, in some way or another...

I believe it was Herbert Hoover, who said it... maybe Calvin Coolidge I forget, I never could tell the difference between these two republican fucks!

7. Tough to say, since Americans don't know shit about their own econ.
Except for the most blatent of payoffs, people have no clue as to where their interests lie or how different other people have it.

12. American Politics Is About Power
There are two ways to look at power:

The GOP fascist religious and social bigots look at power as coercion: forcing people to do what the G0P wants.

the sane people look at power as self-determination, autonomy, and independence.

Which one do you vote for?

14. True
Even the issues that we think aren't are still about maintaining power. Abortion, gay marriage, euthanasia, etc. All about maintaining power in the hands of the few.

Power = Wealth
