When Shumer mentioned the 14th Amendment, I stopped what I was doing because I thought he was actually going to bring up corporate personhood.

Birthright citizenship is important too, but corporate personhood strikes at the root of the corruption of our democracy. Anything else to add?

7. what's funny is a couple of senators start with similar cases and get
him to give his opinion, then when they shift to the main issue, he will say he can't talk about an issue that might come before him--even though Feinstein in particular pointed out that he had on one man, one vote, and Shumer did the same with age of senators then transitioned to birthright citizenship.

They didn't identify and underline his game playing, but they at least did a good job of drawing the parallels.

Yeah, I know it's not a legal question, but I'd love to hear the little fascist toad answer it.

if they don't have -- and they do with alito -- significant case history in front of them, no one knows{nudge, nudge, wink, wink} what they think.

I do not see in the constitution where the pResident can sign veto or sign with a disclaimer.

argument about it if it came before the court. I'm obligated to be open-minded on that issue unless my White House handlers say the issue is so inconsequential I can say what I want."

8. Your rulings show allegiance to corporations over consumers and workers'
rights and safety.

Please explain how mineworkers facing death every time they go to work can feel justice is served when the Supreme Court helps mining company lobbyists and the Republican congress strip away the rules that once protected them.

13. Which of the opinions (concurring or dissenting) in Roe v. Wade do you ...
Edited on Thu Jan-12-06 02:03 PM by TahitiNut
... most subscribe to? I'd ask this question for a whole series of SCOTUS decisions and REQUIRE him to identify the written opinion with which he's MOST in agreement. Such a question is totally fair, since every Justice having written such opinions is no more 'prejudiced' than any nominee would be in agreeing with such written opinions. There's no fucking way in the world that he should be able to demur in answering such an opinion on the specious basis that it'd 'prejudice' him in future cases. After all, since when does any Justice 'prejudge' any case by writing an opinion or concurring with an opinion in such cases?

18. Job History Question
I think he should be asked why, since apparently his habit has been to pad every job application with information which was included solely to appease the potential employer and doesn't really represent his true position, we should conclude that his performance before the committee is any different.
