Blue Nation!
From mydd:

Given this situation, I thought I would take the opportunity to turn the tables on Republicans and show the current county-by-county and state-by-state electoral maps. Using the Survey USA numbers and information form Dave Leip's excellent election map resource, I have been able to create solid estimates of the current red-blue geography:

County-by-county

State-by-state

10. No...
They can't have Utah. They can have Utah County, but that's it.

(From a blue man in a blue county in a red state... in what is unfortunately still a red country)

16. Does that include me?
You may not know this, but Salt Lake is pretty damn liberal. We have Rocky Anderson as our mayor, one of the most liberal mayors in the USA. Oasis in the desert? Hell yeah, in more ways than one.

And it's not easy for us here, with 95% of the state legislature being Moron Republicans. Give us some support... we're fighting deep behind enemy lines.

24. LOL, welcome to DU.
And, from one red-stater to another, be strong and grow a thick skin ASAP when posting here.
Although there are many good people who recognize how hard it is to live in a red state, and all of the good work that many of us are doing, there are also a TON of nimrods here who love to issue blanket fatwas like, "Texas should just drop off the map," "Give Texas back to Mexico," etcetera.

Don't let it get you down. Drop by your state forum to try and find some neighbors... or come by Texas and adopt us. :P We're a good crowd and we know what it's like to be a DUer from a red state. :hi:

18. Well, maybe I have had a few...
...but that doesn't change the fact that the Reds still have power over all three branches of government. And that the rest of the world sees the USA as Bush Country.

Believe me, I do hope this all ends soon, the sooner it does, the more likely it is that we can somehow climb out of this wonderful hole we've managed to dig ourselves into.

The State should be blue. Those are the counties with most of the population.

14. It's close...
Wyoming had a 51/49 split in the state-by-state poll, pretty close to dead even. So I'm not too surprised.

Even here in Utah, it's still pretty close at 51/46. Given the nature of the rest of the state, that means Salt Lake County (half the state's population) is probably about 2-to-1 blue.

32. misleading maps
Remember those ridiculous "statistics" after the 2000 and 2004 thefts where freepers claimed that Bushco won a vast majority of the counties and a vast majority of the area of the country? Since the states and counties that are red are the most sparsely settled, it actually gives Bushco too much support. I liked the maps somebody posted that had used different shades of reds, purples, and blues to show levels of satisfaction/dissatisfaction.
