Picture the following sequence of events: |
|
Company X is a company that does NOT flaunt labor law, it plays nice with the union(s), and is looking for new employees. It posts an ad. People A, B, C, and D reply to the ad.
After a few e-mails are exchanged and phone interviews conducted, Company X decided the best person for the job is C -- who happens to be a Mexican, living in Mexico. C is perfectly willing to relocate, join the union (if he so wishes or required by contract) and start working. Company X wants to hire him.
Now tell me, why should the US government stop that from happening?

2. Companies sponsor foreign workers every day. |
|
Remember the nursing shortage and the Irish nurses?
Until the Berlin Wall fell, dance companies sponsored foreign ballet masters/ mistresses, soloists, and artistic directors every year.
Companies can do this, but most of them hiring illegals are just trying to save money.

4. Back in the 90's, I applied to a job in the USA. |
|
The company was willing to hire, but there were so many legal hurdles I gave up in disgust. In hindsight, it was for the better, but I believe it should be only a matter of bringing one's passport and informing immigration of what company was doing hiring. They'd cross-check with the company and one would be all set. Should be simple and quick.
Keep in mind it was the 90's, and the state in question was bluer than GWB's face when he doesn't get what he wants.

3. Because only capital should be free. |
|
Labor must be penned up inside controlled borders, released only when it benefits the wealthy elites, never free, always controlled.
