Are US gasoline prices being manipulated according to region????
Edited on Tue May-16-06 11:18 AM by Jim Warren
A month ago gas prices here in New England were 10 cents below the national average and 20 cents less than many regions. Now the inverse. Yesterday we paid $3.05.

I just wondering if BIG OIL is doing us one region at a time, manipulating the sucker punch so not everybody is being gouged at once nationally? Anybody seeing this? I'm sure the oilcos have a very good and waxy explanation.

edit:
ya can check out the charts and maps @

1. I was in San Marcos, Texas, yesterday
Gas was $2.75 there. It's $3.39 for the same grade at the (expensive) station near my house in Seattle. Most places are about $3.15-$3.20 or so here.

2. yeah, it looks weird
Last week, DUers were bitching about how gas shot up, but it wasn't doing anything here. Yesterday gas was up 15 cents here and no one on DU said anything. I expect a big jump late next week for the holiday.

3. Red State Discount
Edited on Tue May-16-06 12:01 PM by AndyTiedye
Prices have been going up so fast everywhere that they
were forgetting to give the red states their discount.

There is a standing agreement between the regime and the oil
companies that blue states should pay more than red states.

The red states complained, and this is being corrected.

This is still going by the 2004 definition of "red states",
not the lastest SurveyUSA poll (in which the red states
would be Idaho and Utah).

(I made all this up, but it would explain a few things)
