Chertoff on using National Guard on the Border |
|
He was on O'Reilly six months ago, and said this:
"Why don't you put the National Guard on the border to back up the border patrol and stop the bleeding, and then start to increase the Border Patrol, the high-tech and all of that?" O’Reilly asked. . . .
"Well, the National Guard is really, first of all, not trained for that mission," Chertoff told O'Reilly. "I mean, the fact of the matter is the border is a special place. There are special challenges that are faced there."
Chertoff added that that it would take a huge amount of National Guard troops, that they would need new training. But couldn’t the National Guard pull it off, O'Reilly asked?
"I think it would be a horribly over-expensive and very difficult way to manage this problem," Chertoff said. "Unless you would be prepared to leave those people in the National Guard day and night for month after month after month, you would eventually have to come to grips with the challenge in a more comprehensive way."

3. Snow said something about the NG not doing security |
|
but doing non law-enforcement tasks like (construction?) which will free up border agents for more intensive patrols. It's a dumb-assed idea to appease the knuckle draggers.

4. There's a good movie called Flashpoint that deals with Border patrol. |
|
Also it delves into the JFK assasination.

6. Remember in Flashpoint where they had those electronic monitors |
|
that they had to plant in their sector, and there was a screen that they watched to see whether there was any activity. I guess those didn't work out?

5. Yeah but we all know he's incompetant |
|
and no one listens to what he says. After all he is just the Head of the Department of Homland Security. It's not like he works at the Pentagon or anything.

7. I know this is small potatoes in the grand destruction of our country, but |
|
when Clinton was President, if one person expressed any doubt about one of his policies, the news blared with "Disarray in the Clinton Administration!".
This criminal administration has been going off in all directions since the day they took office, and you just never hear that, even now.
You hear that they are demoralized or "grim", but not the chaos with which they characterized the Clinton regime for years.
Grrrr . . . .

8. Actually, I agree with you |
|
It's very important because it shows just how clueless the administration is. After all aren't they saying that they have been contemplating this for quite a while. Apparantly they didn't ask Chertoff his opinion since he said it wouldn't work just 6 months ago.
That's why I recommended the post for greatest page. I'm suprised it didn't get more traction.

9. Thanks for your recommendation. |

I don't know why some people's post don't get traction.
Lots of things kind of get buried under multiple postings of the same stories. :(
