A letter to my senator--the last!

Dear Senator Hutchison,

I began this letter to ask you to take a stand on the NSA telephone record and warrentless spying controversies.

However, considering that all I expect to receive in return are the platitudes of White House talking points in a form letter I just figured I’d say this is my last letter to you.

Why? Well, aside from the above reference to the other letters I’ve sent you and the responses you gave, what’s the point? The President has completely obviated your existence. Pass all the laws you like, Dubya will just add a signing statement saying he plans to ignore them anyway.

Over 700 laws passed by a democratically elected Congress and this White House will obey not one of them. Not only that but the President has the nerve to publicly announce that your oversight is superfluous and he has no intention of paying attention to you, your fellow lawmakers or the laws you pass.

Considering the President’s usurpation of your power of oversight what good are you? Why should I bother letting you know what I think if you just roll over and let the President do as he pleases despite your, and his, pledge to uphold the Constitution?

1. I also sent my

Senator a letter to conduct an investigation, and we are marching towards a dictatorship, we are throwing away our civil liberties and rights. Denial is a bitch isn't it? excluding present company.

2. I've got quite a collection of letters from Kay Bailey, all of them

strictly towing the Bush line and patently form letters. Not even edited to address my specific concerns.

This won't get me anywhere, but then the other letters didn't get me anywhere either.

Made me feel good though.

3. Somehow I had a feeling,

even before opening your post, that you were sending your last letter to KBH. Like you I write and I write often, only to get the same old non-responsive responses. Lately, her letters go directly to the recycle bin, unopened. What a waste of tax payer money she is.

Start calling instead of writing. That will eliminate the government paper and postage waste and the aggravation her lame WH talking point messages cause. They never reply to calls.
