Patriotic songs that pissed you off.
Name any "patriotic" song that really peeves you.

My two cents...

"God Bless America"
"God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood

That's actually the best laugh I've had all week! Thanks!

I especially like the surf coming in as an American flag and the flashback to the firefighter/child photo from the OKC bombing.

Major cheese... :D

13. God BLESS America....
I have always thought to be a little selfish. We have it pretty damn good in comparison to a lion's share of the world's people and if you're going to ask God to bless a land and/or a people, why not ask Him to bless Africa or East Asia or Latin America.

Well...
Ever since we invaded Iraq in 2003, I believed God bless America is like God bless the Nazis.

Everybody knows that we should have not invaded in the first place and these "patriotic" songs I believed saying that God still bless the aggressor. I don't believe that God blessed aggressor armies, like the Nazis before them, and George Bush and his delusional vision that suggests that God still bless America even if it committed heinous war crimes.

I am a little paranoid about "God Bless America" but I am right about spitting at "God Bless the U.S.A." for it's hypocritical lyrics and the suggestion that God only bless America and not anywhere else.

I am more ashamed of being an American these days then "proud".

Patriotic songs don't piss me off. It's the false patriots who wrap themselves in the American flag and call the rest of us traitors who do. That's why I'm taking the flag back. It's ours.

in my boot camp days back in the eighties...we had to perform "Extra Military Instruction (punishment doled out in the form of calisthentics)," with that song blaring. I associate that song with bad memories!

look like the unpatriotic party shall we... Isn't that the platform the republicans are running on?

It is all our fault for not conforming to the war and the country and the President...

It is not the songs, it is the Administration that pisses us off.. It is not the soldiers, it is the war that pisses us off....

19. Here Is One That Makes Me Laugh!
Freedom Isn't Free
by Team America
album:
What would you do
If you were asked to give up your dreams for freedom
What would you do
If asked to make the ultimate sacrifice

Would you think about all them people
Who gave up everything they had.
Would you think about all them War Vets
And would you start to feel bad

Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
No, there's a hefty fuckin' fee.
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?

What would you do
If someone told you to fight for freedom.
Would you answer the call
Or run away like a little pussy
'Cause the only reason that you're here.
Is 'cause folks died for you in the past
So maybe now it's your turn
To die kicking some ass

Freedom isn't free
It costs folks like you and me
And if we don't all chip in
We'll never pay that bill
Freedom isn't free
Now there's a have to hook'in fee
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?

You don't throw in your buck 'o five. Who will?
Oooh buck 'o five
Freedom costs a buck 'o five

29. *sigh* I will NEVER understand that Price-of-freedom thing...
I mean, really, all nations have wars, not just free ones. Most wars are unnecessary, but the 'necessary' ones are needed to preserve ALL governments, free or oppressive... If anything, the price of freedom is the freedom of those who you disagree with.

21. I actually get a huge, sick kick out of
John Ashcroft's "Let the Eagle Soar." It cracks me up. http://www.cnn.com/video/us/2002/02/25/ashcroft.sings.wbtv.med.html

Of course, when the eagle flies, that means you are spending your paycheck. I suppose when it soars, that means you are racking up the credit card debt. And I guess the damn eagle is soaring all over the place, from the gas station, to the real estate tax office, to the grocery store. And crapping all over us at it flies by!
