I was given such detail on what happened on Friday... The action was at Patton Boggs. The detail I was given was that there was this marathon session.
The entire 4th floor was looked down. Rove was there with secret service detail. Plea negotiation going on. Rejected. Karl Rove was handed an envelope.

I felt that this was an explosive story. Corroborated with my sources.

David Corn asked the question about Rove's possible indictment - you can read it in his article yesterday. Rove basically referred him to a non-related lawyer statement from April 26 and said "nice try."

Corn also said he didn't ask the question "have you been indicted" to Rove because he would have just gotten a straight denial - in other words, no real answer. He said this is the reason no other reporter asked as well.

Basically, assumin any of Leopold's story is true, Rove isn't the guy to ask about it.

Yes, I'm at a small paper, but I can tell you right now I would not have printed a story, even sourced, that was as vague as this one. It's a minor example, but my town had a mayor who was about to be indicted. I talked to my sources daily, calling the prosecuting attorney (who eventually did bring charges) so frequently I had him on speed dial. I knew for weeks that the indictment was coming and rumors were flying thick and fast. Still, I didn't print the story until the PA told me that he had mailed them. After that, I checked with the county clerk to be sure that they got there.

I can't imagine printing rumors, no matter how well-sourced.

1. MSM journalists USED TO BE professionals. Today, they are tools of * and his misadministration. Which is all the more reason JL's sources have reason to not contact them, if they are being truthful with JL.

2. JL will out his sources if it turns out they lied to him, which they would do only if this was a "Rovian" set up. If that were the case (a setup) all confidentiality bets are off, and JL can have his revenge, although it won't do anything to salvage his career since it will be his word against theirs, most likely. MSM journalists are part of the corporate agenda. We know that. But that doesn't sell your argument that JL's sources have no reason to contact them for that reason. The MSM has been salivating over this story for months - it is something to gain viewership - and money, which is what really drives the corporate media.

Regarding JL outing sources if they lied or whatever, that's still just goofy. A real reporter doesn't out their sources or even threaten to out them. They take responsibility for their sources and if they take a chance to believe a source without proof, then if it doesn't pan out, they retract the story, apologize, and face the music.
