My jab at AT&T story--It felt good |
|
A little set up. We just bought a new house. We still have the old house for another month. Our phone line is through Time Warner Cable. I called to have the phone service, Internet, and cable switched. Since our new home does not have a land line coming into it, it is not registered with enhanced 911. This delayed things with TWC. They said I should temporarily switch to SBC/ATT because they could get the 911 registered more quickly. So I called AT&T to have the switch made. This was 2-3 days before the phone list story broke. I got a call yesterday (the day of the big phone switch) from AT&T telling me they needed me to call. I called and they told me that they did not run the needed credit check on me so the order was cancelled. I told them I was on the phone for 35 minutes with them and we did, indeed, do a credit check. She got all snotty with me and told me that wasn't the case, but MAYBE they did lose the credit check in the computer.
So I said, "Yeah, I'm sure with all the CPU usage you have been dedicating to tranferring phone records to Bush and the feds, you don't have much more room to process your actual business." She stammered out a non-response and asked what I wanted to do. I told her I wasn't going to switch to them because they are incompetant and are helping the feds violate the constitution.
It felt good. Then I went into the new hot tub for 20 minutes.
