Good God Almighty...Tennessee couple rapes their ONE DAY OLD kid!
http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060513/NEWS01/605130304/1002

McKenzie police have charged two Carroll County parents with raping their child.

Jonathan Wayne Goodrum, 19, and Kristina Louise Sawyer, 18, are charged with raping their 1-day-old girl before she was taken home from McKenzie Regional Hospital about six weeks ago, said McKenzie Police Lt. Tim Nanney.

While both parents have been charged, Sawyer's bond was reduced because police still are investigating what role, if any, she played in the possible rape of her child, Nanney said. She was charged because "I could not exclude her from being part of it, so I had to charge her also," he said. "I could not exclude her at the time from being a participant of it."

Nanney said hospital officials notified police of the possible rape after noticing injuries to the child's rear during a routine examination given before newborns are released from the hospital.
"There were some skin tears in and around the private (back) area of the child," he said.

The investigation led to the child's parents, Nanney said, and there was no indication that any hospital worker was involved in the incident. "Based on the investigation, we ruled out everyone but the mom and the dad," Nanney said.

Jesus. I feel ill.

2. This makes me want to weep.
This is one of the most disgusting things I've ever read. This makes me want to cry thinking of that poor child.

I hope those two sick fucks get what's coming to them.

3. Creatures like this have no place in society
So I say if they are guilty, kill 'em. And normally, I do not believe in the death penalty. This case is an exception.

6. Not jumping to conclusions here
because newborns can have a lot of weird things going on. The parents, while young and flaky, may be innocent.

However, if they did a rape kit on the baby and found anything, they need to cage whichever of them did the deed and throw away the key.

11. damn!!
if this isn't "blame the victim," I don't know what is.

16. That's not blame the victim
since it implies no fault on the part of the newborn.

Now, I happen to disagree that the hospital workers (presumably in a maternity ward) would mistake just "something going on" for a sexual assault, but it's not blame the victim in any sense that I know of to suggest that they might have.

Proviso: I have an 8 week old baby girl and I'm absolutely astounded by this story.

13. Right. There's something about this that just isn't right.
I can't comprehend it.

Now, I *can* imagine rubbing a little butt too hard with cheap toilet paper with one eye closed, totally grossed out about baby's first poop (they are teens, and even I'm still suffering from a couple of weeks ago, when I performed my first diaper change in 20 years on a baby niece. It's *not* like falling off a bike, I tell you. One *can* forget how to do it).

So I doubt the allegations too.

18. Working as a SW in an ER
at a pediatric hospital, the staff would not have gotten the police involved if it was only a "baby's first poop" snafu.

27. I sure hope it's a misunderstanding
and that the baby's not acutally hurt, or the parents actually monsters. That's what I hope..

9. Children of all ages
are sexually and physically abused everyday and unfortunately, prosecuting abusers in TN usually only amounts to a slap on the wrist, especially if the child is too young to make a verbal disclosure.

Hopefully a precedent regarding harsher penalties will be set in this case due to the child's age. These people need to rot in jail.

12. I think I'll hold off on the hangman's noose just yet.
Alleged incident occurred six weeks previous to the arrest.

Prosecutor charged the mother although he conceded he doesn't know if she was involved.

No indication anyone confessed to anything.

Prosecutors never overstate their cases, right?

23. I'm okay with that.
What horrible people to do that to a child. I don't care that they are 18, 19 years old. Did they have any instincts toward protecting their child? Apparently not. And thank goddess they were still in the hospital and not released a day sooner.

In very few cases do I advocate this for people this young but what they did is a symptom of just how dangerous they would be to other children.
