Poll question: So, I'm going to ask point-blank; Will the Democrats Filibuster? |
|
I personally really don't see it happening; how about the rest of DU?

3. Odds are about 100:1 against the filibuster |
|
It was decided yesterday when Alito's wife pulled the fake crying act.

4. There is nothing in the Dems behavior of the past 3 years to indicate |
|
that they have grown any balls, learned from what has happened, or have convictions strong enough to step up to the plate and take the challange on for the good of the American people.

None of the other judges recently confirmed answered the questions put to them either, and the Dems, for the most part, voted for them.
It's real simple. If you don't answer the questions, you don't get the job. That should be a fundamental point of honor and duty for members of both parties.

It is very obvious from the signals they are sending out that they are not going to filibuster.

I don't think that there are enough votes there to get rid of the filibuster - if they would only do it. I think people like Collins and Snowe would vote to keep the filibuster. So I don't really see why they are giving out signals that this fight is over. Something must be going on behind the scenes?

That would be my guess, as it is always so with the Senate.

You can't filibuster with on 39 votes.

It must happen. Make 'em go "nukyoolar." It will come back to bite the Repukes in 2008 (or else democracy is already dead). Either way, we have nothing to lose.
