In meat and poultry plants across the United States, Human Rights Watch found that many workers face a real danger of losing a limb, or even their lives, in unsafe work conditions. It also found that companies frequently deny workers’ compensation to employees injured on the job, intimidate and fire workers who try to organize, and exploit workers’ immigrant status in order to keep them quiet about abuses.

1. I think the same type of exploitation will happen under a guest worker
program. Am I wrong?

That is the whole plan IMO. To finally put the nail in the coffin of the middle class. We'll have the "haves" and the people (illegals immigrants and poor americans)that have to do the jobs "the haves" won't do. That's what Bush is really saying when he shovels that shit. I'm so torn on this issue. It's so utterly sad that things in mexico are so bad that they think they're improving things by coming to this shell of its former self country. mexico probably has a more vibrant tourist economy than we do these days. I see trickle down economics don't work there either.

3. Ah, don't let these bozos
get under your skin. I've been called "racist," "mysogenist" (I'm female) and I can't remember what all else, all because I don't goosestep to the faux liberal party line.

Here's another example of exploitation the farmers are fond of: Pay workers each week, under the table, UNTIL the last paycheck, which the workers don't get. But don't object to that kind of exploitation because if you do, you hate brown people. Oy vey!

I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Yeah GW fuck you. I've done proudly a lot of jobs "murican's won't do" and gotten fucked for it. But that's the real planisn't it?

7. More to the plan
The break down of social programs strained beyond limits too

Everyone here feels for the plight of not just the Mexicans but people from many countries.

But you can not place the burden the entire world's poor upon the backs of working Americans and not expect a break down. Bush's plan is simple, he wants an endless supply of cheap exploitable labor. That includes US, you and me, working Americans.

5. It's statements like this:
You want illegals exploited for slave wagesand the other one You are pro-illegal immigration that makes many of us wonder really what your beef is?

Since most of us who would like a humane and just solution to the problem, neither want an under-class exploited as slave labor, nor do we favor having our laws broken, think it isn't fair of you to make these allegations.

Your statements have already defined the situation and there is no room for enlightened discussion and sometimes we can only come to conclusions about your mindset that you don't like.

So if you want to be taken seriously, take a deep breath and ask questions that don't insult everyone's intelligence.
