2. Don't you know that natural gas... |
|
...migrates south in the Winter? That means that you have to pay more to encourage some of it to forego its vacation and stick around in the cold and snow. Come the summer, gas is back, fully refreshed and rarin' to go!

8. I'm astounded!!!! It gets Warmer in the Spring????????? |
|
How in the heck does that happen?
(I have a small natural gas royalty I've been getting for 15 years or so. My checks are always higher in the winter when there is demand for heating from natural gas and low in the summer.)

Natural gas has big price fluctuations.
Some years the fluctuations are bigger than others.

It's May. There's almost no demand for natural gas for home heating (unlike in winter). Not only that, but natural gas production in North America has peaked (over a year ago) and is in decline (and has been for, again, at least a year or longer). Declining production + increased seasonal demand = higher prices. Easing of demand pressures thanks to warm weather = lower prices. Very simple economics.
