It's State Dinner Time
Bush Entertains Leader of Australia

At an elegant dinner, the White House was serving Howard and his delegation squash soup, duck prosciutto, asparagus and pan-roasted barramundi, a fish from Australia.

The two leaders were joined by their wives, Janette Howard and
Laura Bush, who wore a pale yellow, beaded long-sleeved gown designed by Peggy Jennings.

Other guests included: David Eisenhower, director of the Institute for Public Service at the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania and his wife, Julie Nixon Eisenhower; Supreme Court Justice
Anthony Kennedy; professional golfer Geoff Ogilvy; David O'Reilly, chairman of Chevron Corp.; Samuel Palmisano, chairman of IBM Corp.; and CBS anchorman Bob Schieffer.

Bush began his day with Howard at an elaborate welcoming ceremony on the South Lawn, where Bush recalled how the two had met at the White House on Sept. 10, 2001 — the day before the terrorist attacks. "Our nations have stood together on every day afterwards," Bush told Howard on the lawn.

I will post pics when they are available.

1. Didn't Bush say something today about Howard being ugly?
I know he didn't use "ugly" but he said something about him not being very attractive. Who the feck is Bush to say anything like that?

Bush makes me cringe everytime he says anything!

2. Why did they serve an Australian fish to Australians?
When I visit other countries, I prefer to the native cuisine.

Maybe * caught it in his lake.

7. I don't get it
Why does this WH always serve foreign visitors food from their own country or a facsimile thereof?

Wouldn't it be a lot more important to serve them some really great American food? I can think of a thousand elegant dinners showcasing American meats, cheese, wines, fishes, and produce.

They always have some big corny stereotypical fat-ass dessert like sugar spun palm trees with chocolate camels. I think it's insulting to the guests and quite gauche and juvenile.

11. Interesting guest list.
Sen. Lamar Alexander (news, bio, voting record), R-Tenn., and wife, Honey Alexander
Honey is such a porn name... or the name of a golden retriever.

James Angle, chief Washington correspondent, Fox News
Mostly there to collect this weeks talking points.

Singer Kenny Chesney and his mother, Karen Chandler
When renee dumps your ass, you mom becomes your date.

Clint Higham and Dale Morris, managers for Kenny Chesney
We think it would be great for your career to be seen supporting this 29% approved president.

Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive officer, The News Corp., and wife, Wendi Deng
Australian and fascist. A double whammy!

Rep. John S. Tanner (news, bio, voting record), D-Tenn.
YOu gotta have at least one member of the opposition party. Be sure it's one that's not really a vocal critic of your criminal activities.
