My America
I grew up loving this country. I read the Decleration of Independence and the Constitution so many times because they are beautiful statements about the potenital of a country and its people. In my eyes, the American model is one of the cloest things to an ideal government. However, today I am watching My Amercia being thrown out the window because of two parties of corpratists who care more about money and power then they do about the American Ideal.
The betrayl of America boils down to a fundamental lesson about humanity: hubris comes before the fall. Since before I was born, we have institutionlized a system where people in power work only to get reelected, defying thier oath to defend the Constitution. Pork barell spending, crooked lobbysits, misleading a country into war, clandestine operations on American citizens, the destruction of the judicary, and multimillion dollar campaign funds to attack an oponet. However, no one seems to give a damn because we have all got to work ourselves to the bone just to be a part of the middle class, and then watch as our job gets sent to India to increase the bottom line for the richest. How can we pay attention the state of the polis, when the state of our own personal affairs is in such dissary? The media trys to curve this by dumbing down news and debate, allowing more time for the "bread and circus" illusions.
I, however, am watching. I am fortuante enough to be blessed into a family that got lucky. Therfore, it is my duty to protect those who are unable to protect themselves because of the system. And I've reached my breaking point. Maybe it's because I am young and stupid or maybe it is because I am an idealist; but what it comes down to is my America is worth fighting for and it always will be. I pray that it will never come to a physical struggle, but if it may I am willing to fight and I hope anyone who believes in America would join me.

Sorry for the rant, I'm feeling really down about the direction of my country.
