Imagine Bush getting kind of questions Alito is getting |
|
Alito is being evasive, but he obviously at least understands the issues the senators are talking about and can answer knowledgeably when he chooses.
Try to imagine Bush even understanding most of these questions, let alone respond in a way that wouldn't be an embarrassment to every American. Hell, he wouldn't even be able to listen.
This is why in addition to or even place of the State of the Union, we need something like Britain's Prime Minister's question time.
Then even if we got another conservative president, he at least wouldn't be such an obvious empty suit and embarrassment to us.

1. So whose fault is it that he wasn't asked tough questions before |
|
his elections? I can sort of understand the 2004 election because he was totally in a protective bubble by then, but that doesn't excuse the 2000 campaign!
Ssure the media deserves SOME of the blame, but SO DO THE VOTERS!
