Ted Koppel joining NPR
NEW YORK (AP) — Ted Koppel, who ended a quarter-century run on ABC News' Nightline in November, will join NPR.

NPR announced Thursday that, starting in June, Koppel will provide commentary about 50 times a year to its programs Morning Edition and All Things Considered as well as Day to Day, its new midday newsmagazine. He also will serve as an analyst during breaking news and special events and contribute to the NPR website and the network's podcasts.

"I have been an unabashed fan of NPR for many years and have stolen untold excellent ideas from its programming," Koppel said. "It's time to give something back."

Koppel's deal is for one year.

"Ted and NPR are a natural fit, with curiosity about the world and commitment to getting to the heart of the story," said Jay Kernis, NPR senior vice president for programming. "The role of news analyst has been a tradition on NPR newsmagazines and there is no one better qualified to uphold and grow that tradition than Ted."

5. Yeah...He can tell us again, like last week,
how Bill Clinton would have invaded IRAQ after 911. I enjoyed how he pulled that BS out of his butt.

6. Given the way NPR has been going, I'm hardly surprised.
Yeah, Ted Koppel of "Day XX of the Hostage Crisis" fame. That got him and Nightline started and helped bring down Jimmy Carter.

Then when Reagan got in, there was no such talk about a "crisis" when hostages were taken, including a Colonel Higgins who ended up swinging at the end of a rope.

Ted Koppel and NPR. Yeah, there's a great combination for you, a perfect fit.

7. One of the few Journalists left with ANY integrity...
...he would be also be a good pick for PBS, since Bill Moyer was forced out last year.
Can we hope that NPR will become a voice of reason again in this insane world?

8. Great. Now where is Aaron Brown. He never let himself be bullied
by right wing pundits. Who are the only ones doing the bullying on the air.
